I will be starting some Cilantro in paper towels tomorrow. I will decide where to put them later. Most likely in my Kitchen Harvest but want to get them rooted first.
I will place a date in the subject line after I get them started.

Never got these started, hope to by the end of the weekend. There was a bit of an emergency the other day and I hope it is winding down.

While I am thinking of it and have some time to do it, I have placed three seeds per paper towel. Both are in zippies. These will be placed on top of the bounty hoods for heat until Sunday. Then they will be placed on top of my Harvest hood. Botanical Interests Sabor Cilantro and Renee's Slo-Bolt Cilantro. I still have 4 other ventors but wanted to try two I never did before. More if and when something happens.

All the seeds are opening but none have sprouted yet. I decided to place them in pods (2 seeds per pod, two pods). These are temporarily housed in the Sweet Garden Bounty.

Is this generally the best way to start cilantro? I put a few seeds into a pod and have two sprouts close to the dome but upon taking it off they lost their stength. They dont seem to be growing any more now.

Sometimes I find that they germinate in the pod while others do best started in a paper towel.
Also I have tried a LOT of different vendors cilantro and found that Burpee germinates the best.
How long ago did you remove the domes?

Upon inspection I'm noticing some algae on the sponge. I dont think these are gonna make it.

I am not too concerned about the algae. But what bothers me is the brown on the leaves. Even with that the one that is standing looks like there is growth starting in the center. I would keep that one but take out the other one.
Let me ask you, what else are you growing in this unit? How much nutes are you giving it? Is the water warm?

I would add ice cubes to the water. If the water is water to the touch with your finger add ice. AS for nutes, I always give less the recommended nutes, but that is just me.
Try adding ice first.

The Renee's Cilantro has been housed in the Kitchen Harvest. Waiting to see if the Botanical Interests seeds germinate.

The Botanical Interests seeds never germinated. I am going to start some more but this time I will try to germinate the Botanical Interest (again), MI Gardener and my go to Burpee.
We will see who germinates first and flourishes. So the germination test begins in paper towels today.
So if you were a betting person, which one(s) are you rooting for?

As I stated in the last post I am going to see how these germinate.
So as of today. .. three days ago I placed seeds in paper towels to germinate.
The Burpee has roots coming out the seed shell. The Botanical Interests shells are softening and starting to open. The MI Gardener while wet has not really softened or is starting to show the seed seams.
So as I thought the Burpee has not failed and will continue to be one of my Go To's. I need to try this with Park vs Johnny's

The Cilantro now has a home. I placed the Botanical Interest and Burpee pods in a Harvest. I also took the Cilantro from my Kitchen and placed it in the Harvest as well.

I tried your Burpee cilantro and agree- I had better luck with it. Is it under “Highly Recommended”?

No, I guess we should put it there.
