No real news other than tiny bulbs are starting to form.

Beautiful. Those are green onions/scallions, right? I love those too. Are those one per pod? Couldn't you grow say, 3 to 5 in one pod?

Nope these are regular onions. I've done scallions the same way. With a different medium you probably could. Somewhere on here is a link to someone doing just that with grocery store scallions.

So the growfrips turned out to be a problem as the onions weren't able to root properly when I had the bottom of the bulb above the top of the sponge. Two managed to root well and are doing fine.

And then there was one.... For whatever reason this plant managed to get enough roots down to be healthy while the rest eventually succumbed to that one root that made it breaking. The good has long since been maxed so I dont think this is going to be a repeat unless I invest in a Farm XL with the extra space. Between this and the garlic, it looks like I need to find a way to protect the base of the the bulb from the constant moisture while still giving it the ability to push roots through it.

Onion is winding down for the "winter" and it looks like I'll be eating it soon. Dunno if the reason it didn't get very big is because of the hydro or if I didn't feed it enough.

Cooooooool! I'm interested in its taste, too. I'd also like to see it on the cutting board as well.
