Man, when I finished my last project on the Farm, I rinsed it off and wiped it down. Then I put it in storage. Because of health issues, I haven't grown anything for a while.
Well, I am getting better. Not as fast as I'd like, but I'm working on it. Today, I put the Farm back in place.
But what a pain. There is a film from the last grow that doesn't want to be cleaned. I worked on one basin and grow deck for over an hour with steel wool, Dawn, a toothbrush and a scrubber sponge. It's as clean as I'm going to get it. I'm not happy with it though.
I brought out the other basin. This time I put it in my deep sink and poured in a good amount of apple cider vinegar. I topped it off with water. Hopefully, the acid in the vinegar will loosen the film by tomorrow morning.
I'd like to run bleach through it tomorrow to sanitize. But I'm still planning on a June 1st planting. I haven't decided on what peppers will grow as of yet.

Glad you're starting to feel better, Mike. I hope that the vinegar does the trick!

The vinegar helped, but the basin was a pain to clean. I mostly used a toothbrush. The scrubber sponge couldn't get into the nooks and crannies. Even the toothbrush couldn't get everywhere. I still have to do the grow deck. The grow deck is much more difficult to take apart than the Bounties.
The grow deck is now clean. All that is left is to sanitize and plant.
I believe I will grow the Maya Habanero on one side and the El Rito pepper on the other side.
The Maya is an extremely hot habanero (200,000 - 300,000 SHU). It is a larger habanero. 4" long and 3" diameter. But this is a 36" tall plant, so it will take some serious pruning.
The El Rito pepper has a medium heat level. They say it has a smoky flavor which sounds like it will be great in sauces. It is a 4" long red pepper when ripe, with a 3/4" diameter and a pointed end.

FYI, The staff at the aero garden company just pops their gardens into the top rack of their dishwashers. But I’m sure that their bowls don’t get as nasty as ours do . (Sometimes the Grow decks get a little bit warped, even in the top rack of the dishwasher. When that happens I just put heavy stuff on top of them so that they’ll sit properly above the grow bowls.)

mike, the El Rito, how tall does that get? I like that it had a smoky flavor.

10 more hours of work tomorrow, then 3 days off! I'm getting this sucker going this weekend! (if I can find my sponges!) Jeez! I'll be really ticked off if they slow me down.

YAY, can't wait to have to full swing. Check and if you do not have sponges, PM me and I will send you some. Might get there faster then ordering from AG or Park unless Amazon can get them there in a day or two.

I will first try the hydro stores. I still think I have over 100 sponges, somewhere. Saturday morning I will find out for sure. I'm pretty sure they are in my small bedroom closet. I use that room for storage. Finding out which box they are in is the issue. Too many boxes have AG written on them. But, they could be in my basement storage room, too.

I'm planning on that for this afternoon. We've had all sorts of family things going on this past week. Yesterday was a graduation party after work.

I know in two weeks I will have a lot going on. Stuff I do NOT want nor need to do. I was supposed to work and fill in for someone at the office. However I told the women I work with that I am not up to it yet as I can not get a full coverage shoe on and I really can not walk much either. She begged me to please come in and that I can just sit at the front desk and log patients in, and answer phones. I explained how that really would not work especially if I need to pull charts, make copies of cards or bring patients back and do weights etc. She said she would do that all. So as much as I wanted to say no I said yes . If after one day I can not do it she is on her own.
I am already thinking of ways to get out of it but I can't. Then they asked me to work an additional day the following week
Damn, sorry I vented. But it felt good to get it out.

You have to take care of YOU first. What others consider obligations don't really matter if it harms you. At this age, I'm not ready to retire. But I'm thinking about it. I would really love to supplement my retirement income through Photography. I have a feeling it will be by processing others photos and videos with Photoshop, Lightroom and other video editing software. But for now, I'm trying to capture the beauty in nature. That never ceases to amaze me. What God repeatedly gives us to enjoy through his grace.

I know you are right. I really need to figure out a way to get out of this but I won't. However I am going to tell them that I can not longer do it. Even when I am all better I really do not want to go back. A huge plus is not having to be with the patients and getting sick.
And yes, you should see what you can do with photography. You take wonderful pictures. I love sitting on my deck and watching the squirrels (when not attacking my plants), rabbits (which we have many) and the deer come through the yard. When they just sick in the yard and lounge is to relaxing to watch. We also have a red fox that comes by from time to time. I have to see if I still have the video of the rabbits doing their mating ritual. It is when they play leap frog. I caught it on my surveillance cameras and it is so darn cute.
