All the caps are off! They are doing great on day 11. I've been reading about halving the recommended quantity of nutrients when growing lettuce. Anyone has an opinion on that? G.

I never use the recommended amount for lettuce. I usually add only half. Also keep cold water in the bowl. If it warms, they're some ice cubes in it.

@shawn I am seeing some tipburn on my Parris Island CoS and the lights are not too close. So I agree with you about 6 ml.

Sorry a little late to this question... I have tried the "recommended" in both Bounty and Ultra units to start and I have lessened with similar results. I do about ~4 to 6 ml when I add nutes every two weeks. I am not sure the recommended for the Harvest., but Id lessen. You can always add a bit more if you think they are not getting enough nutrients. I'd try 4 and see what happens. Good luck!

Hey...you said you put ice cubes in your water bowl to keep the water cool... Are you using distilled water when you make the ice cubes...thanks Hi sharmo, I use regular tap in my AGs and so when I add ice, it is made with tap water. If you are using distilled for a specific reason, I'd recommend making ice with that? Although a few ice cubes from tap should not be detrimental? When my water gets warm, I add usually 2 and it cools it right down. As per your other question, I have no idea what 'lettuce water' is, so cannot comment. Where did you hear about this and in what context...might help focus answer.

Another question...does anyone know what Lettuce Water is and what are the ingredients?... Thanks again Never heard of it! Let us know(pun intended) when you find the answer! But it sure sounds like a concoction made in a health store from juicing lettuce to make some kind of yukky drink.

Thanks Sounds gimmicky to me. The lettuces need very little nutrients to grow well. I have seen YouTube videos where people add extra nutrients in order to make whatever they are growing more nutritious. The thing is, the nutrition of a certain vegetable does not come from the nutrients you feed it, it comes from the plant itself. For example, if you added some omega-3s to your water, your plants would not have omega-3 in them. If the YouTuber was doing another hydro system, it may have been something specific to that? I would not worry too much about it. The AG nutrients are made specifically for the system and work fine. Many of us do not even use the recommended amount. If what you were growing was showing issue that indicated a deficiency or too much (aka nute burn), then you might wanna play around with type of nutes, amounts, etc.

My tap water works fine so I do not use distilled.
