Hi Corinne. When I plant basil, I use two seeds and thin down to one plant. I use two just in case one does not come up however I find that usually they all do. Parsley, I plant 2-3 seeds and have not thinned out. However I may thin to two plants as the base can get very think and dense.

i Shawn and other herb growers, can anyone help? It's day 3, and white strands hang off the chives dirt and the curly parsley dirt, and white fuzz is visible in the chive pod where a sprout should eventually appear. Hmm.
The pods are dated 2017 and were kept dry in storage. The other pods in the machine are fine and fuzz-free: a few romaines and Genovese basil are visible already; mint, Italian parsley and sage are predictably invisible still.
I don't remember white fuzz from prior years. And I only remember white strands once there were roots. But there are no roots now; it's day 3 and chives and parsley are slow growers!
