Shawn, I tried the haircut method on my last batch of lettuce, and I did not like the way they grew in, either. I feel the same. I prefer to harvest larger leaves and keep it growing. I almost only do the 'haircut' method when I have so much to harvest and I just need to sheer off a bunch. I will do this once I am content with the idea of the ending the garden soon-ish. Then they will surprise me and grow back and tell me they have more life to give. This is how I wind up having salad gardens for 90 or 100 days... I never want to give up on them lol. |

Funny thing is that is the only way I have ever trimmed lettuce in the past. I will have try a different way.
