Sweet Heats are one of our favs! They do not need to be topped, and they do not grow very high (9-11" tops, at least all mine).

The little Sweet Heats are growing fast!
Is it normal for them to be light green, or should I add a bit of nutrients?

mike , I need advice from the Pepper King.
I decided to move one of the peppers in my Bounty to another hole. When I pulled the plant out, the water filter was caught in its roots. The filter had some brown sludge on the bottom, and the water smelled a little funky. Also, the roots on one pepper weren't as white as the other.
I washed the filter and replaced it. Then I added a tablespoon of H202 to the water.
The water feels warm.
I am guessing this is the beginning stages of root rot. I know peppers don't like cold, so am leery of adding ice.
Any suggestions? I really want these peppers to thrive.

mike, I am going ahead and soaking the roots in 2 qts. water with 1/2 cup H202.
I am also giving the Bounty another sanitization cycle with 1/2 cup bleach, after scrubbing the interior with dish soap and bleach.
I will give the unit several rinses.
I am unable to open up the grow deck, but it is a new unit, so I'm having to trust there are no matted roots there.
I would appreciate all the advice you can give about dealing with this now and in the future.

First, I would pull out the pump and check obstructions that could prevent water flow. Then replace the filter. Are the discolored roots discolored all the way? I would trim them a bit. Don't soak them too long in peroxide. It's fine for removing fungus, but beyond that I don't know. When you rinse and refill, I'd run plain water, no nutes, for a couple of days. Good luck.

I think I saved them. The roots were just slightly discolored. They are white again after the soak. They are back in the unit and look good to me.
I think I may have cross contaminated my fertilizer and syringe. I had sick basil in another unit, which I ended up dumping. But I used the same syringe and fertilizer bottle in both units. And I have a bad habit of rinsing out the syringe in the tank water.
So I threw out that bottle of fertilizer and syringe and will be much more careful in the future.
I checked the pump. Nothing in it, and I changed the filter. I even managed to get the grow deck apart and found one small root, which I removed.
The peppers look like they are good to go. Fingers crossed!

The roots are brown again today.
I must have seriously contaminated them with the tainted syringe and nutrients.
I plan to look for more of the sweet heat seeds and try again.
So sorry, Shawn. I so wanted the seeds you gave me to thrive.

I think I gave up too quickly.
The roots are brown, but the water doesn't stink.
And the plants look good! I think I'll just wait and see how they do.
