I have been growing a few basil plants, along with a tomato plant in the Harvest 360 and most of the plants are about 8 weeks in. On Tuesday I dumped and rinsed the tank then added flora series nutes and a capful of hydrogen peroxide. Today I noticed that some of the leaves on one of the basil plants are getting brown spots and a little yellow but the other plant looks perfectly healthy and strong. I noticed the roots are more brown than the roots on the other plants. I have always noticed that the roots on my plants tend to be a little brown and I am not sure if it is actually root rot. Is there anything I can do at this point or are they goners?

Batya, I wish I could see the pictures, but I can't.
I can tell you that the last two Aerogarden basil pods I planted produced sickly plants. One even got root rot, which I spread to my peppers via a nutrient measuring syringe.
I am not sure if it was the pod, but I find it strange that it happened twice.
If you have root rot, the water will stink. If it doesn't stink, then it is something else.
I don't think it's root rot, though because the other plants are healthy. I would pull that pod and discard it, just to be safe.

I grow lots of herbs in my Harvest, and I personally have found that my herbs like less nutes then my tomatoes (which I just started growing) and peppers.I also know that herbs like colder water then tomatoes. I have never tried the Flora Series so I can not help you there. I only have used the AG nutes. One of our members was kind enough to post a Flora Series 101 Guide. That may help. I have not read it in a while as I have not tried it YET. Brown tinged roots. I notice that the AG nutes will do that for some reason. They do not look bad from here. What I will do however, is when I do an R&R, I will also rinse the roots under water and give them a slight squeeze to rinse them off. I do not do this all the time but sometimes.

Thank you, Error!!!
If it were me, I would pull the worst looking one. But Shawn has been Aerogardening years longer than I have and knows what she is talking about!

Thank you! New to all of this and not sure how to post the pictures. That is ok. We do have a thread on how to in the General section. But in the meantime, we (thank you Error) will get them posted.

Thank you Shawn and everyone else for all of the helpful advice! I used the Flora Series 101 guide but I think the nutes may have been too much for the basil plants. I have pulled the plant that started having issues with it's leaves. None of the roots smelled bad but the plant I pulled started having mushy roots that were breaking easily. Good to know about the AG nutes tinging brown. I have noticed it before on my plants especially after I add nutes and I am happy to learn it isn't root rot. Should the other plants be okay after I pulled the problem one or do I need to dump out the tank and start with fresh water and less nutes? Per another suggestion I also purchased a pH kit and will make sure to be checking that more closely.

Thank you! New to all of this and not sure how to post the pictures. I'm with you, friend! My picture posting has gone anemic until I learn the platforms we use here. There's a wonderful "how-to" Shawn created. I've just lacked the sit-down focus to start a new picture app but mean to do it. Kudos for learning new things with Aerogarden and the basil! We'll be learning the picture apps together... Maybe you'll race to do it and spur me on!

Batya, it's probably fine, but it wouldn't hurt to dump the water and start with less nutes.
I used to worry about ppm and pH, but unless you have awful water, most of us don't worry about it and it works just fine. The Aerogarden nutrients are supposed to be pH buffered.

I too suggest to dump water and start with less nutes. I use a dropper. It makes it easier for me.
As for the pH. I used to drive myself nuts over it. I have not touched it or looked in 3 years.
