Hi AGners! I've started my AG 3 weeks ago and I've already cut some leaves off from Basil (both Genovese and Thai) and leaved only one plant per pod and trimmed the roots back to the end of the pod. But now I'm realising that my basil is growing like a "fountain" and I cannot understand where and how to prune it. The stems are very short and there are a little distance between one leaf and the one which has grown before. Can you give my some advices? PS: Sorry for my English if I've made some grammar mistake

Hello and Welcome! Since I can not see the stalk of the basil it is hard for me to judge. So let me ask a few questions. Did you prune the plants? If so where? If you did and there were not at least 3 sets of true leaves that can stunt the plant into growing more like a ball and outward. May I ask why you trimmed the roots? You may find the Pruning (Harvesting) Herbs thread helpful. Many videos for different herbs.

I cannot tell from the picture either, so I'll make some guesses.
Maybe trimming the roots so severely this soon dwarfed the plant?
Maybe the stalks and leaves were pruned too early or too often, as Shawn mentioned.
I would try just letting the plants grow for a while and see what they do, and then posting some more pictures for us to look at.
Good luck!

I, for one, like to keep all of my greens compact
