Off topic, but we have had so much rain that algae is growing on the dirt in my outdoor planters, and one vinca succumbed to soggy soil.
And a thunderstorm is on the way today -- then probably next week remnants of Cristobal.
One thing I noticed in my new 360 is that the AG baskets do not fit down into the hole, but sit about 1/4" above the deck. I am afraid that will let enough light in to cause algae.
I find that with my newer units. What I do is turn them little by little to see if you can get them lower. Sometimes it works. It has to fit that certain little way. I have had some algae on the cage and I just rinse it off under water. It stops once the plant overshadows the cage. I have also placed masking tape around it. Some have used foil. However lately I do not worry about it as much as I know it is going to happen. As for rain. We had a huge storm come thru most of the night and I did not sleep. I usually can but Piper was not having nay of it. She howled at the lightening until I dragged her big body into bed. I still could not sleep as my butt was off the bed LOL. We just had another wild one roll thru and I thin more will come. I'll tell you 2020 is one weird year.

Shawn, I have tried turning the baskets, but it is not helping with the new machine.
I will do as you do and just wait for the leaves to shade them.
Poor Piper. The sad thing is that when they are that frightened, it's almost impossible to comfort them. Glad Mama let her into bed.
My crazy chihuahua barks at thunder to scare it away!

Check out all that algae! @cornne, this is an issue I've yet to encounter. I hope that the emails will produce an effect! I'll be following this thread to see what AG says Also: wow, that's a lot of rain Sher! We've gotten quite a bit here, too, but not to that extent. Minnesota weather is notoriously finnicky. We got 1/2 an inch of rain in just 10 minutes last night, followed by immediate sunshine. Nuts!

I thought that I would try using the pod labels to minimize algae growth on the seed-starter sponges. Hopefully, since sprouts usually don't tear-up the covers they will last through many plantings. I am sure that the labels went on a lot easier than they will come off.
