I have never before experienced the explosion of mold that I am having on the sponges in my seed starter this time. I'm not talking a little mold fuzz in the pods. I am talking big wads of solid white balls of mold that clog the holes and even climb the seedlings.
I have treated the pods with peroxide on q-tips. It doesn't get all the mold on some of the worst infected ones, and when it does get it, it grows right back.
I suspect the pods must have come from the factory full of spores.
I am going to resort to soaking the sponges and then microwaving them before I use them to see if that helps.
In any case, I will be switching to foam sponges that do not promote mold growth.

Yikes, I'm sorry to hear that. I've always had the white fuzz on top with the AeroGarden sponges, but never with the Urban Leaf sponges or any other material I've tried. Outside of the wasp incident, I've never had any issue with larger mold growths or other types of mold - hopefully the foam sponges work out better!

What sponges are you using Sher? AG, Parks, another brand?

These are AG sponges. I bought a pack of 70 (for the Farm) from Amazon a while back.
Now that I have calmed down a bit, I realize I did not have this problem with earlier sponges from this bag.
So it has to be something other than factory problems. I am a bit embarrassed by my rant.
