ERR0R1755 Shawn Thank ya'll for the warm welcome Error, I think I have read through just about all the radish and turnips updates you have made here lol. It was the main reason why I joined! Can't wait to see the other roots you'll try. Radishes are my favorites and I generally never have a problem with them, but this year, each crop I grew outside was destroyed😢 Right now, I'm experimenting with some cherry belles, watermelons and French breakfast varieties. Also trying out a turnip hybrid and just planted some Parisian carrots. keeping my fingers crossed. Excited to share with ya'll my own photos soon 😊

2020 has been a very weird year for a lot of things. But having Aerogardens give up the ability to grow ALL year long. We can always start new projects and when one ends or one fails we can always start a new one Can't wait to see how your experiments go. Now you and Err0r keep me excited to see what you will grow.

Welcome kattoon29! What machine do you have? What are you planning on growing first? I am also keeping my eye out on some Black Friday Deals as well.

Hey Friends. I have been keeping a few houseplants in my parents place for about 2 years. This past year I moved into my own place and thus gained free reign in respects to projects. I have had interests in permaculture, self sustainability and social ecology for a little bit now so I have been looking for a project to broach the space. Given that we are entering winter and are still in a pandemic a hydroponic system seemed like the best starting point. To simplify the process I ended up with a Aerogarden Farm. I am doing mixed salad greens on one side and 4x tomato & 2 Jalapenos on the other (knowing I may have to move 2 or so to soil)
So yea that's where I am at. In the future if this is a success I would like to build DWC and NFT systems and experiment with grow tents before implementing real permaculutre systems outdoors.

Welcome darby. Happy to have you with us. Aerogardening is a great, fun and rewarding hobby. With that said, ther may be a time where they do not grow as expected. We all have "failures" for lack of a better word. BUT, with Aerogarden we can start and stop or restart whenever we want at any time of the year.

Hi, kattoon29. Dreaming about all the possibilities is part of the fun of Aerogardening! I hope you find a fantastic deal (or two!) on Black Friday.
And don't forget to tell us about it!
darby, Aerogardening is a fantastic way to get a gentle introduction to hydroponics.
I love all my Aerogardens and hope to add another Bounty soon. But I am also interested in other hydroponic systems. The NFT and Deep Water Culture systems are easy to DIY.
I also love the idea of permaculture, but at my age will probably not tackle it. But I will find it fascinating to follow your projects.
Best of luck with your first Farm!

Hi! I just started outdoor gardening 2 years ago after finally moving into a house with a small garden. Winter has come and I started feeling the need to grow more than just house plants and remembered seeing aerogardens years ago. I was lucky to find them on sale and bought myself a Harvest basic just a month ago. I have an Orange Hat tomato from Baker Creek growing and its already flowering. I already ate the Hedou bok choy also from Baker Creek. I saw someone grew turnips in an aerogarden and I want to try that too! On the look out now for another sale locally. I think I might be addicted...

Welcome to the forum! es Aerogarens are addictive (hence our name). Aerogardens are wonderful in the winter months when you can not get into a garden and even if you can. No bugs or pesticides.
I look forward to seeing what you are growing and what you decide to try new.

I love the basic Harvests. I think they are the most versatile unit Aerogarden makes.
I also have Baker Creek bok choy growing in a Harvest. And I have grown the little Orange Hat tomatoes and they are adorable.
Your little garden(s) should make winter much brighter for you!

Thanks for the welcome!! I am awaiting a Christmas present (The Aerogarden Farm xl) from my husband. He is holding out until the actual day and I am so excited. I am currently just in research mode as I patiently wait. I have accumulated lots of helpful start up tips already from reading through other peoples posts.

jewellea, what a wonderful Christmas present!
Waiting for the Farm must be excruciating!
You are smart to spend the time researching other peoples' experience with theirs. You can learn a lot about what works best in them as well as seeing beginner mistakes that you can avoid.
What do you plan to grow first? Salads, veggies, herbs or flowers?
I am SO happy for you!

Thanks, I am excited. I am going to start with lettuce, a few herbs and the tall cherry tomatoes. I just ordered some reflective Mylar film and I am going to put it on some pink styrofoam insulation board around my garden to keep down the drafts during the winter. It will be sitting in front of an unused window in my utility room. The wait is definitely going to be excruciating. Lol

That should be a very rewarding first garden. Lettuce and herbs are almost instant gratification! And the anticipation of seeing the first tomato flowers, then the tiny green tomatoes form, and the agonizingly long wait for them to turn red is an adventure!
You are fortunate to have a utility room the Farm will fit in. At first you will probably find the light blinding, but you will adjust to it.
Insulating it from drafts is wise. You have been doing your homework!
