Thanks! I am pretty excited. Santa is getting me a Farm 24 XL and a Farm 24. One question- I don’t see a thread for zucchini. Has anyone had any success?

I would also love some other Farm and Farm XL grower advice and layouts. Besides lettuce, what else fits height wise in the Farm as it is only 12 inches? Thanks in advance.
I am a pretty decent outside organic grower but this is all new. I have wanted one of these for quite some time. Is there an organic alternative to the miracle grow?

As for what will grow in the short Farm, anything that will grow in a Harvest would work.
You can browse the Gardens and Grow Along headings and get ideas. The posts usually list which machine was used.
Off the top of my head, bok choy, micro dwarf tomatoes (I have tomatoes growing in a Harvest now), herbs (must be pruned), flowers... Take a look!

Welcome rebeccae5 ! Happy to have you here. I see you have a variety of Farms. I recently got a Farm and do enjoy it but my favs are the Bounty. Your 12" Farm, as Sher stated, you can grow anything that has a 12" or less height. The Sweet Heat Pepper, CERTAIN tomatoes, flowers, lettuce, herbs. ERR0R1755 has a bunch pd experiments he is doing in different units and DYI's.
May I suggest you read up on the forum. Ask any questions you may have. Then when you are started we want to hear all about what you planted and how they are growing

Thanks! I have been lurking and reading the forum for a bit. So very much information! Having a bit of trouble finding the answers even using search. I will keep looking.

rebeccae5, as far as the height goes - you can also look for projects done in a Sprout or Harvest, since those have the same (or less) height, but less horizontal room.

Hello! Yes, I'm a newbie. I received my AG Bounty Artisan on 11/20, got it set up on 11/21 and was just thrilled to see sprouts 4 days later. We used to live in Southern California. We were able to have an outside garden throughout the year. We grew veggies and fruits too. We grew all kinds of tomatoes, zucchini and other squash, cucumbers, melons, artichokes, grapes, herbs and other things too. We had fruit trees, grafted lemon (2 kinds of lemons), grafted apple (5 kinds of apples), lime tree, tangelo tree and an avocado tree too. About 10 years back, we moved to the great Pacific Northwest. Gardening here is quite different and we take frequent camping trips during the warm months. With that in mind, I have been wanting to have an inside garden for some time! With the pandemic, we've been spending more time at home. I love to cook and have been perfecting my pizza making skills. Finally, a great excuse to get that herb garden going. Fresh herbs from the market just don't seem to stay "fresh" very long! My first garden is the mixed herb selection. I'm so looking forward to using the basil on pizza, the Thai basil in Asian dishes, the fresh thyme on veggies and the dill and chives for potato dishes! QUESTION: If one has a non-wi fi AG, can you still use the AG phone app? The reminders and "tips" are nice to have. Even in the pandemic, one can use reminders! Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I must say you had quite the garden at one time. Very impressive. Was it a farm of some kind or just your typical home garden?
I love my Aerogardens. I always have an herb garden on my counter going to pick herbs to use fresh. I freeze what I can not use when I decide to start anew. Fresh basil on pizza is wonderful. My uncle was the pizza man in the family, he had his on pizza place way back when.. ah memories. I hope you get that pizza making down.
As for your question, I do have Wi-Fi units and thought I would use the app. I really dont except to turn the lights off and on or dim if I want. Other then that I do not use it. Until you have a wi-fi enabled machine then the app is not useful. Sorry.
I look forward to seeing and hearing more about what your growing

Thanks for the info on the app. I do have a wi fi AG, so the app is useful...but I do see the "tips" on the AG itself too. I was posing the question as I'm thinking it might be a nice "project" for a child, stuck at home during the pandemic...and to nurture and interest in gardening. The youngster I'm thinking about lives on a "farm" or sorts up here, with chickens and ducks and outdoor gardening, when possible. But the garden is more his mother's passion. I'm thinking he might get interested if he is watching from the very beginning? From an "educational" standpoint, the "tips" could be helpful. From a budget standpoint, a non-wi fi unit would be easier? Anyway, thanks for the input. With regard to the garden in California, I'm guessing ours was much more elaborate than most. We had a very large lot and we worked from home. This allowed the area and the time and interest for the garden. We shared much of the produce with friends, family, neighbors and at the American Legion too. It was fun and given we had the space, it wasn't much more work to plant a few more for sharing? Both hubby and I grew up in homes that had home gardens. Hubby was famous for "trading" around the neighborhood where he grew up. He would get out his little red wagon and fill it with treasures from the garden. Mostly avocados as they had a huge tree. He would "trade" with neighbors that had other fruits and veggies...or baked goods! He went to the back door, knocked and would explain what he was trading that day. Most folks gave him more than his family could use, so he had plenty of produce to trade. One neighbor baked breadsticks daily. He was a frequent visitor there! Memories!? The pizza making for Neapolitan pizza is close to perfection, at this point. I've learned to throw it onto the stone for baking and learned the timing for baking. I've come up with a few great recipes for sauce and toppings. I'll start working on New York and then move on to Chicago and Detroit!

Hello!
My name is Al, and I just plugged in my AeroGarden! First one. I got the Harvest Slim that comes with the salad greens and just got it up and running. My "add water" won't turn off but I contacted AG and hopefully they get to me soon.

campingcorgis, it is hard not to drool at your description of your former California garden! And what a precious description of your husband's childhood gardening entrepreneureal endeavors!
Congratulations on your pizza creating successes!
So glad to see you posting!

Hi Al, glad you found us. I know this may sound stupid but is the pump plugged in? Is there water in the bowl?
Also make sure that the piece that says Fill to Here is in place correctly and that the little bobbler inside is in the correct way. If not this can cause the add water light not to go off.
As long as the pump is working and there is water in it, you should be able to use it as is until your get a replacement (unless one of the above helps).

al3b Welcome, Al! I am delighted to see you beginning your first Aerogarden adventures.
I have read how to fix a stuck water level indicator, but can't remember it now. I do remember that it was a simple fix.
I hope you hear from Aerogarden soon. Or that someone else on the board can tell you how to fix it.
Please be sure to keep us updated on your gardening progress!
Oops! Shawn and I cross posted. The bobber she mentioned is the fix.

Thanks and I am so looking forward to using the herbs in my kitchen. Hoping it all works out well and I'll consider the next steps for tomatoes, peppers and salad greens too!
