Whenever you think something won't work out... just give it a try and see what happens!
I've never seen this happen before, but I tried growing a Crimson Giant Radish for seed and I knew that it wouldn't have enough room to completely grow. But since I didn't want to eat the actual bulb, I figured it would be fine and wouldn't be an issue.
I was right in that it wasn't an issue... but the radish decided to grow upwards instead, and now it looks more like kohlrabi than a radish!
