I've removed the flower heads and set them aside to dry.
I also learned that the plastic pod from this kit is NOT dishwasher-safe. It looked like a piece of abstract art after I ran it through the dishwasher...
Here's my self-survey:
Plant Grown: Zinnia
Grow Method: Urban Leaf Bottle Garden
Time to Germinate: 4 days
Time to First Flower: 44 days (since germination)
Time to Last Flower: 86 days (since germination)
Plant Spacing: One per bottle
Final Height: 6 inches
Would I grow these again? Definitely! These were both fun and incredibly easy to grow.
Lessons Learned: For future bottle gardens, I will want to insert a piece of tubing + a bottle cap for watering.

What sort of lighting did you use for this? I had it under my Bounty (in between my bean and soybean plants) until the middle of January, at which point I moved it into my 2'x2' grow tent with a Mars Hydro TS 600. |

I am definitely considering this a success!  I'm reading about zinnias today and admire your project. I read that they hate transplanting, but I decided to try a few seed in the AG anyway. They sprouted in a few days. I wanted to plant them outside in a pot, so I moved them very early (about one week). When I removed them from the AG, I saw why they hate transplanting -- there were a bunch of roots compared to the size of the plant. I planted them outside in a pot and also planted some seed directly in the pot to see what happens. Seems the AG raised seed should be fine as long as all the roots went along with the plant - and they did.
Another reason I enjoyed your zinnia posts is to learn they will actually bloom inside. They're really very sun-loving. Were yours raised with AG light or other source?
There are so many beautiful dwarf and mini zinnias these days. Easy to grow and so beautiful! Maybe I'll try some inside in the AG this winter. Anyway, I enjoyed reading about your project.

These were really easy to grow! It didn't make a mess with pollen or petals like my California Poppies did, and I initially had them directly under my Bounty light but then I moved them off to the side so they received indirect light from the Bounty. I'd imagine they would be perfect to grow in a Sprout, but I have not tried that yet. |
