I am ecstatic! I found an easy tool to remove the nasty build up up our Aerogardens!
First, soak the crusty deck and pod covers in straight vinegar for 2-3 hours. (I save the used vinegar and reuse it many times strictly for cleaning my machines.)
When you lift the deck out of the vinegar, you will see all the white crust, ugly as ever.
BUT HERE'S THE MAGIC --
This scrubby is made for cleaning cast iron cookware without scratching the delicate seasoning layer.
It takes the mineral buildup right off the plastic Aerogarden deck with light scrubbing, with minimal scratching of the plastic (compared to other methods).
It will be the best $9.00 you ever spent!

Awesome, thanks for this!! I gotta try it, I scrubbed and scraped for nearly an hour and barely made any difference last time I tried to clean the crust off my deck! Tried scraping very carefully with a putty knife but it was still shaving plastic off, had to stop with that :|

Been there, done that, with a knife.
Glad it's "news you can use." But don't forget the vinegar soak first.

Great for the newer machines. My crusted ones are either old or second-time-around machines with black decks that have seen years of neglect and I have gotten so disgusted I gave up . It looks too gentle for the older crusty machines, but I would definitely go for it as a tool to use with the newer models. I think soaking is the key to getting the gadget to perform. Thanks for the link.
