The Harvests that I had in my window for the extra light all got root rot. The sun warmed the water too much.
One was minimally affected. Two were moderately affected. And one may be a hopeless case.
I changed the water in all of them and added a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide to the tanks. The really sick one got its roots trimmed and then the roots soaked for 30 minutes in a bowl with a stronger solution before being returned to its base with 1 T peroxide.
That treatment has never failed to work for me. Fingers crossed on this one.
So I have just moved the baker's rack where they are displayed to a wall away from the window.
I think it's funny how I rearrange my house to accommodate my Aerogardens!

How terrible! Good luck, I hope the treatments work and they all bounce back!

HA, I have rearranged furniture for my AG's as well. I also have had since the start of my AG'ing a corner in my dining area for them. I have an open floorplan so it is not unslightly. It kinda fits in now that the Farm took that space up. Instead of a corner it is on one of the walls and does look better.

Oh, dear! Glad to read this post though. I was considering making my front office window (south facing) a place for future AGs. I guess I'll need to reconsider that. Although, in the PNW heat is generally NOT a big factor. I read somewhere that herbs like the cool, so I've been adding a couple of ice cubes to my current herb garden, once a day. Keeping good thoughts for you!

Aerogarden also warns against putting the machines in direct sunlight. They suggest an area that gets no sun or at least no direct sun.

I knew that, but decided to do it anyway. Now I know WHY they said it!

How often do you add the 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide?

hipgranny72 , if the plant roots look healthy, I just add 1 teaspoon per regular 2 week feeding for prevention.
I only add 1 T if the roots are sick. After that, I would also change the water every week and add 2 t peroxide each time until they are healthy again.
Too much peroxide can burn the roots.

Healthy new roots growing after the hydrogen peroxide treatment.
(This plant was the hopeless case.)
