They are here!!! Woo hoo! Unfortunately, Mikey went for an appointment to have the car's tires switched to the snow tires. Sigh. Too heavy/awkward for me to set up alone. The box with all the "extras" was clearly opened along the way. Everything appears to be there. One of the Farm boxes seems to have been mistreated even more than the others. All of them, including Mom's rug from WebRestaurant, appears to have been loaded by the Samsonite Gorilla (if anyone remembers him?).
Now to decide what to plant? I'm thinking...
Farm24, bottom: 4 tomato plants on one side and 2-3 peppers on the other.
Farm24, top: 4-6 lettuce plants (need to see exactly what's in the boxes) and then I don't know on the other side.
Suggestions?
Choices: Rosemary Other lettuce (I've got 2 "Salad Bar" boxes and one "Heirloom Lettuce") More tomatoes and/or peppers
It is a GOOD distraction from today's world.

The farm is not at all bad to put together. I did it all myself with the exception of some screws. Only because I do not have the strength or movability on my hands (RA) to do it.
I did do a write up on steps if you want me to send it to you in message. It is pretty easy to do!

Sorry I did not get you that write up. I was at the vet for 4 hours. And by the time I got home I had to make dinner. I'm glad you got it together. It was not expected for me to be there that long.

That looks fantastic!! I didn't do the wall mount either, and it seems sturdy enough. The pumps always kick on right away for me too, and I did the same thing and unplugged it in a panic so the pumps didn't get damaged! Shawn I'm sorry you had to spend so long at the vet, I hope your doggy is okay!

Oh, dear! How is Piper? Did they figure out what is going on? (In my other life, we've done Corgi rescue for many years. Not so much these days, but dozens and dozens in the past. Always had 1 or 2 fosters & saw many "issues".) Never fun going to the vet, especially when someone isn't feeling well. And, please don't fret on us! After the initial count on screws versus places they were needed...we found what we were missing.

Ta da! It is done! Everybody is in "Germination" mode. So, top left: 6 lettuce plants. One of each of the types that came in the "free" package. Happens to be the same as the "Heirloom" salad kit. Top right: I just filled it with herbs, figuring that same may not germinate. And, in the future, I may swap things around with my Bounty in the kitchen. Anyway, there are 5 Genovese Basil, 2 Dill, 2 Chives, (used up the freebie there), 2 Cilantro (planted in Grow Anything kits), and 1 Rosemary. Bottom left: 4 tomatoes, 3 Mega and one Golden. Bottom right: 3 Peppers, 1 Mini Jalapeno, 1 Sweet Bell and 1 Lilac Bell (planted in the Grow Anything pod). Whew! But fun! I no longer need to turn on the overhead lights in the office. May be true for some neighbors across the street too.

Did you happen to see how I velcro'd panels on the sides to help the lighting (I need to find that post)? and was going to make hte for the back however when I grow peppers I need that room for them to grow. So I have a curtain in the front I can move and place where and when I want/need it.
I can give info on those if neeed.

I'm not bothered by the light, if that's where you are going? As for the neighbors, it really was a joke! They are too far away. I don't spend a lot of time in "the office" these days. I have my laptop in the great room. So time in the office is for choosing and returning cookbooks, and doing a little filing or picking up something from the printer. That said, we are considering putting something in at least the lower half of the nearest window. More to protect from sun in the summer, coming into the room. We do have the screen we can lower on the outside, but it is a screen, not a solid material. The sun is pretty low in the sky, at this time of year...when we can see it...LOL. Which will NOT be today! Foggy morning here. So, thank for the offer and, maybe in the future I'll change my mind & ask for help with the panels!? For now, I just want to look at them, every time I go into the room!!!

Planted 2 days ago & Parris Island lettuce is already germinating! Would post a picture, but it doesn't show much. They are tiny!

I like both Paris Island and Black Seeded Simpson. I go through them too quick, though.

I like both Paris Island and Black Seeded Simpson. I go through them too quick, though. Thanks for the recommendations! Can't wait to harvest & taste test them myself! Today for lunch, I was inspired by a recipe post from Shawn for a Cucumber and Tomato salad. I used that recipe as a starting point, then looked at what I had available in the fridge, threw all of that in the bowl and then topped it with a generous supply of fresh basil and parsley from my Bounty Herb garden. It was yummy. Served it along with some Split Pea soup from the freezer. A recipe from Andersen's Pea Soup in Buellton, CA. Bought their cookbook when we camped next door to them, a few years back. (Not so) Patiently waiting for the lettuce garden to be ready!

Believe me, you can harvest awfully early with greens. As much as I love a lettuce salad, I actually prefer Pac Choi. My favorite is Pac Choi Shiro.
