No, I think it affects the taste of the tomatoes a little. But I may be a little paranoid on that. One time I started thinking about it after I added the Mooch. I stopped adding Mooch and the flavor seemed normal after that.
I can tell you the best crop I ever had was the last crop on the Farm Plus. I never had so many tomatoes before. Four Heirloom plants on one garden with no Mooch.
These plants are taller on the Ultra. They could be reaching with the less powerful 30w hood. We shall see when the tomatoes arrive.

Thanks. I will stop using calmag on mine. I was afraid they would develop blossom end rot without it. Apparently, AG nutrients have enough calcium.
Looking forward to seeing what kind of harvest you get.

It's about time. I think I'm going to use these Ultras only for herbs and greens from now on. I don't think these older hoods are powerful enough any more.

That is a shame Mike. I wonder if they are losing their LED power?

I think that is the case. These are from the same Heirloom seed pods I got and grew on the Farm with such success last Fall. These current plants have very few blooms.

I have two 30 watt Bounty Basics, and notice the lower light level.
However, my AG heirloom tomato pods produced their little hearts out in Harvests with 20 watts.

On a newer machine the 30w would be great. But I think the light fades over time. This garden is seven years old.

Ah! That makes sense!

7 years and a lot of hours. That makes sense.

With regard to lights, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember seeing any difference to instructions for the height of lights and the various wattage of same? Everything I've seen says 4-6 inches above the plants or start with the "lowest" position. With the experience of the heat on the deck of my Farms mentioned Here - I decided to not use the recommended "lowest" position for the lights in my new Greens in the Farm Basic Gardens. Instead, I placed them about 8 inches above the deck, as that IS the lowest setting on my Bounty Artisan Elite that has the 60 watt lights like the Farm. (Probably should have mentioned that in my Garden info post. ) If the lights on your hood aren't as strong as they used to be, would keeping them lower help? Probably not, but just posing the question because it occurred to me?

Greens need the least amount of light to grow. A farm for greens may actually be a bit detrimental at the lowest setting, but raising the hood a bit wouldn't hurt. You may notice, the lowest setting on a Farm is a bit higher than any of the other gardens.
The extra power is most beneficial to fruiting plants. Even there you don't want the lights too close. My Sweat Heats had a few singed leaves due to the light being too close.

I not happy with the results here. Today, I moved this basin to a Bounty. I placed it, the new tote and the pac choi garden on what was the Bounty cart. I also needed to free up space in the Living Room.

It looks like we may need to rename Mike the Tomato King!

mike, I would definitely have expected to see flowers and tomatoes on a plant that size. The Ultra light must be ready for the LED graveyard.
I accidentally broke the mount for my Bounty Basic light (shoving it on in the wrong direction), so suspended a 45 watt AG panel above that machine. I like it better. I may do the same thing with my other Basic.

It looks like the more powerful Bounty lights are helping.
