I've been growing Tom Thumb peas in my Harvest Slim, and today I caught them holding hands! I'll leave them to it, though, because whatever they're doing seems to be working   Seriously, though, they seem to adore the Harvest Slim and have been growing like mad since I planted them there. It's been great! My only complaint is that they are thirsty little critters and the bowl is not very big, so I end up topping it off every day to keep from running too low. Kinda eyeballing a Harvest XL for that reason, since they don't get very tall so I feel like giving them a Bounty would be a bit of a waste. |

Talk about healthy plants, areyoukittenme! I love your beautiful photos!  Do the Tom Thumb peas taste like English peas? I love English peas, but don't care for the Sugar Snap peas that are replacing them in the markets. I've never tried growing peas in an AG, so will be following your project with interest!  |

I actually don't know what they'll taste like, yet, since this is my first try growing them. But they're shelling peas like English peas are, so my guess is they should be similar! There's a dozen pods in various states of maturity between the five plants in that unit, and I can't wait for them to finish filling out so I can taste them. I'll certainly let you know how they taste! |

My peas are continuing to fatten up!  I don't know how many are visible in that picture, but there's at least 21 pods now that I counted in various states of maturity. There was one more than that yesterday, but I picked it young and ate it  . It was fine, but I wouldn't grow this if all I wanted from it was snap peas.
The light on that Harvest Slim is all the way up, and the plants are still a good few inches away from being able to reach it. I don't think they're going to get any taller, so these are a very good size for growing in a Harvest!
Also, I just did an R&R on some AG tomatoes in a Bounty and I wanted to leave a note for myself: My water starts at ~230 ppm and 7.4 ph. 27 ml AG nutrients +1 ml PH down will give me ~1,100 ppm and 6.3 PH.

The pea plants are so well behaved in the Harvest Slim! They really are! I think it helps that they can hold on to one another so they all end up growing straight. I have some others in a DWC setup and they are not nearly so well-behaved as these. |

I harvested a couple pods to give them a taste! 
Unfortunately, they weren't really sweet which makes me think they needed more time on the vine. They weren't starchy either, and the pods are still bright green, so I don't think they were past their peak. Just a little under-ripe. There's plenty more where that came from, though, so I'll continue to wait patiently!  |

When I am watching the pods, I find they will swell out and if you flick them with your finger you can hear the peas rattle inside.. Not time to pick yet unless you want baby peas which we do like. I try and wait until the pod is just hard and round no rattle. if you wait a couple more days after that, they are too big and starchy. Takes some time to figure out the right time to pick so you get them how you want.

Friday will be 50 days, and I'll try another pod then!
On a related note, I really love the day counter on the models with an LCD screen and maybe I should stick to those going forward 😅

The day counter is one of the very best AG features. I also love the wireless models--even though the connections can be a headache at times--because I can check the day counts and plant food schedules through the app. Looking forward to hearing the results of your next taste test! |

My partner and I tasted another couple pea pods and it seems like they're still not quite there yet. They do taste more like peas, though, so I'm hopeful it'll just take a few more days!
I did have a bit of a scare with them a couple days back, when I accidentally gave them a double dose of nutrients. I noticed about an hour later when they were saggy & limp, so I did an impromptu R&R and they perked back up again. I don't know if that set them back, perhaps?

We finally have peas that taste like peas, lynnee !  And I was surprised to get five of them out of one pod, like on the right! That seems to be an anomaly, as most of the ones still on the vine look like they have 2-3 full-size peas inside.
I should say that two of the plants were starting to dry up and die (I've removed those and done an R&R for the remainder), which I have to think is the result of my feeding misadventure last week. Either that or they were reaching the end of their lives at 52 days, which seems unlikely.
I am getting a little antsy to end this garden so I can plant some lettuce, but I'm looking forward to the rest of the peas ripening, since these ones were yummy!
