The taxi tomato project has been so much fun to watch, scarfguy!

Day 75 FIRST HARVEST!
The tomato is smaller than I had hoped but a lot bigger than a cherry tomato. Actually the size is just right to cut up a whole tomato for your sandwich without having to put the left over half a tomato in the fridge.
It is meaty and juicy. Has a nice sweet tomato taste, and is low in acidity.
Looks like I'm going to be eating lots of tomato in September!

scarfguy , your idea of having a grow light suspended over an Aerogarden to provide additional light when a plant grows beyond the AG light is genius. Sure I could do some pruning to keep a plant in check but there are times when I might not want to do this. My grow lights previously used for seed starting will be put to a new use. I've shared your post with a couple of friends. Just wanted you to know that your idea is appreciated!

Thanks so much!
Here's my next tomato excursion. This is a san-marzano "nana" (seeds direct from Italy).
What is significant to note here is that I removed the bounty light hood all together from the beginning. I discovered that the bounty electronics really doesn't know that the light isn't there! SO... the bounty base is providing the water and nutes as usual but the overhead light is on it's own separate timer.

Those plants look nice and healthy, scarfguy ! Even though I knew the Bounty light was removable, it didn't occur to me that the machine would function normally without it being plugged into the USB port at the base. What a cool and totally useful discovery. It really expands the utility of the Bounty models.

scarfguy, what are you using to support/suspend the overhead lighting?

I'm using the nylon loom cord that I use in weaving. It's called texsolv cord.
I described it in a previous post entitled, "Borrowing an idea from my other passion".
(Sorry, I don't know how to make a link to a previous post)

What I was wondering about, is what the loom cord is attached to, scarfguy! An eyebolt in the ceiling, maybe? You link to another post by finding it in a new window, then clicking the gear and choosing "link to post". This opens a menu that lets you copy the link and insert it in your new post. Shawn may know a simpler method, but that's how I do it!

Oh! The light is hanging from the top shelf of the shelving. I have two of these:
They are sturdy shelving and have a large open area that works well for a bounty.

That is beautiful shelving, scarfguy! It looks so much nicer than the plastic-y shelves in my living room. It seems quite reasonably priced. I knew that you weren't using a big trellis, and couldn't quite visualize what you had set up.
