Funky connector is on monitor. It comes with cable that plugs into that connector. It has a standard HDMI on other end.

Wikipedia shows these options for HDMI connections:

It may be a mini. The monitor has a mini to Full HDMI cable. I ordered a full HDMI female to male micro adapter. I am using a micro to full HDMI cord from the Rasberry Pi to my TV for now. It works, and the internet is working. This thing is soooo small.

The Pi4 is a great little computer for things like this. I have several and one of them has a full install of RP OS with Kodi running as my Media player for local Video. Have 2 5T USB portable with 6T of shows and movies. I had tired to use the other one to build a NVR for a single IP camera and was trying to run Shinobi but the pi was just not enough and had to move to a Dell 6490 with Mint Linux Good luck with this project, looking forward to seeing the outcome!

BTW, they normally tell you to use the HDMI next to the power as you main monitor connection. Just noticed it was in the second but maybe you had reason to do so.

Thanks. I just switched it. I am a complete newbie with this system and OS. I can't wait to switch monitors. The text is on the largest setting, I think, but everything is so small I can barely read it, now.

If your TV is 4K then it is probably defaulting to 4k. Google "how to change resolution raspberry pi " I forget off the top of my head, but switch it to 1080p and it should be much better.

That did it. Much better. I am entering this on the RasberryPi right now. I received the camera this morning. Waiting for a plumber to show up. I love those 4-hour windows, I'll be there between 8 and Noon.

Airscapes, I have a data tower for movies as well. I collected DVD's for years. Ten years ago, I started backing them up to HDD, At that time 2Tb. Now I have three 8Tb drives. The backups are important. I lost all my data back in the '90s, once. That will never happen again.

It is a mini HDMI connector on the screen. I ordered a Micro to Mini cable. Thanks for the help Tompepper. I'd never heard of a MiniHDMI before, just Micro and standard. It works great.

OK, here is my 8Gb Raspberry Pi with a 12 Mp HQ Camera with a Sony sensor. I have an adapter attached to accept my Canon EF lenses. A Tamron 45mm full frame lens is attached. I should get the memory card to install the operating system on tomorrow.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of keeping external storage plugged into the USB port while doing time lapse. I have 2 of those drives. I'm going to have fun with this. I have a 45mm full frame lens connected to the raspberry Pi. On a full frame camera, it is supposed to be as close to the human eye, magnification wise, as you can get. On the Raspberry Pi, it is like a Telephoto lens, like looking through binoculars. This is my first shot. It is pointing into my pantry, 12 feet away. I really like the color.

All I can say is WOW. That is wildly good! Just goes to show the lens makes the camera and no $250 IP surveillance cam with tiny pin hole plastic lens is going to look good.

All photographers will tell you it's not the camera, it's the glass.

I tried a 6mm lens designed for the camera. What junk. I just put it away. It's almost bedtime and a fresher mind may help at another time.

While the 6mm lens isn't very good, I'm hoping I can use it for time lapse work. It can be adjusted to look pretty good. The thing is, having it set up where it won't be disturbed. I may have to set it up in the small bedroom. The slightest movement will mess up the time lapse. I have a tripod for my cell phone camera with a 1/4.20 thread mount I can use. It is attached in the photo below. I have a bit to learn, yet. I want my first project to be Sorrell on a Bounty.

What a wonderful project, mike! I'll probably never have time to follow in your footsteps, but you have given me a reason to hang on to my Canon DSLR. I never use it, because the camera on my Galaxy phone is so good for Internet photos.

So the big lens was too much magnification to work for the time laps?

The 45mm Could work if I back it away from the garden. Not tripping over the tripod is an issue too. I can go to a wider lens. But my wide lenses are very heavy, a lot of glass. If I can find an inexpensive 10-20mm EF lens, that might work.
