I still have trouble killing a seedling but it has to be done. It's an emotional thing. After all, even though it's just a plant, it is a living thing. I swear I hear it scream a little bit when I snip the stem.
I could never be a rancher. I don't know how they manage to raise cattle and then send them off to slaughter.
It is hard but does get easier to go LOL

Ah, poor Spot! That was a harsh lesson, CatHerder. My grandfather wouldn't let the grandkids name his pigs and calves at all. "Don't make pets of them," he always said. It does get easier to cull seedlings. It's a real test of willpower, though, when you have to terminate a mature, producing plant because you can't use any more hot peppers or eggplants or whatever and you want to use your AG for something else!

It really was tough, those tiny seedlings were so cute. I didn't think it would be so sad. The AG site is currently having an "up to 40% off" sale. I may get another Harvest XL (30% off) or maybe go with a Bounty or Bounty elite (each is 25% off) for the brighter lights and grow some peppers or cucumbers. Not sure. Or wait for a better sale....

YES! CatHerder , a proper quote and reply! well done!
I have 3 cats and none of them seem to have any interest in any of my AGs. as long as it isn't catnip.
How about cilantro? I could never grow cilantro outside because the neighborhood cats gobbled it right up. They didn't touch any other herbs, but they loved that cilantro. Fortunately, no kitties in my apartment, so my cilantro is going gangbusters.

I actually, as an experiment, dropped two Catnip seeds in the pod on 1-28-24 and today I think I can see one of them sprouting! I do like cilantro and use it on occasion, but not enough to grow it, unfortunately.
