The Summer Broccoli was very unproductive, barley picked 3 times for 6 plants. Several years ago 3 plants produced all Summer and through fall. I am hoping it was placement as I started a fall crop and am hoping To consume mass quantities of Broccoli till the snow flys. I moved it's location to as close as I could when I had that great output. The Cucumbers are there but I went right next to those. Fingers are crossed. 20240911_122756 End of July transplants of cherry tomatoes are really starting to produce well. I am hoping the Veranda Reds do as good as these transplants did. 20240911_122814

Kinda a Charlie Brown type Pumpkin Patch. Hopefully more will grow and these will last till then. 20240914_171814 Vines seem to be dying back already but, there is another plant over yonder that has possibilities.

Cucumber salad. Becoming one of my favorite summer things to eat and very easy to make. 20240919_194309 ! larger Cucumber. An equal quantity of Tomatoes(Sugar Baby Toms) 2 smallish or 1 medium onion. Cut and chop up the produce.
20240919_201430 Add about 2 tablespoons(or more) of pinch perfect salad supreme , Tajin works great also. Then about 1/3 of the bottle of Italian dressing you can make your own if desired. Mix it all up chill it for several hours then serve. Very tasty. 20240919_203037 I think I have made this at least 10 times over the summer. Seems to becoming a family favorite. I am freezing and sealing chopped cucumbers and tomatoes to see how well they thaw and combine back. We will see how mushy they become over time. I did freeze some chopped cucumber and used it in a few salads seemed to work fine. I guess time will tell if it was worth the time and space to freeze these.

I wish I could dice that well. That looks nummy, and I have a cucumber, some tomatoes and an onion in the kitchen. So that may be supper, if not this evening, then tomorrow. Thanks.

I am gratefull and blessed from the amount of produce still coming from the garden. I have processed as much this year as I could. Have given much away to family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and, people driving and carting down our little road. Having the extra time this year to tend the garden made a huge difference in the results. The weather was great too. Took mental notes all season and will change many processes the way I do them. Since I will have the time next year I am looking forward to it. After 40+ years of casual gardening this year was a great learning experience. Now back to separating my indoor tomato grows and make the house glow. 20240929_130424

Over 40 years of growing produce in the same garden I don't ever remember picking ripe peppers in November. One for the books for me. There are still at least 50 peppers in the garden that are not ripe. Have had several minor frosts which took out most produce but the Peppers carry on. 20241107_171036

Looks beautiful and tasty! A hard freeze took our volunteer cherry tomato out. So all I have at the moment is a thyme plant in a pot. Neither very tender or flavorful at this point, so I'll probably cut it back some. It likely should be replaced next spring anyway, and new soil added to the pot. Hoping my Aerogarden can supply me with some thyme through the winter.

I still have three or four volunteer tomato plants, but the dang squirrels keep stealing the baby tomatoes. Also have a cucumber vine that's blooming and a small raised bed full of mustard greens. That's about it for the outdoor stuff, though it is still quite warm in Houston.
