I planted 8 pods of Pac Choi Shiro on the Farm Plus to accompany the Ghost Pepper plants, today. The pic below is Pac Choi I grew on one of my totes. These are my favorite salad greens. I buy the seeds from David's Seeds.

I remember your lush choi totes well. You're the one who made me understand they can be enjoyed raw in a fantastic hearty salad (Corinne too) instead of sautéed down to a negligible, tiny end product. It really helped me keep my husband on his diet when he'd come home after I was asleep. I'm looking forward to seeing your beauties grow.

It usually takes about 3 days for these to show green. This morning I see the first pod showing green at 35 hours.

Is the Hood of the Farm a lot stronger than the special hood used for the tote?

Yes, I am sure it is significantly more powerful than the Apollo lights I used three years ago.
Here is the Pac Choi at 58 hours since planting.

OK this is nuts. I planted these Pac Choi seeds 11 days ago. Today, I had to pinch off 9 leaves because they were blocking my ghost pepper light. BTW, the leaves are sooooo succulent and delicious!

re: harvesting times......when do you like to harvest, Mike? I really think it is too early when I harvest..when the leaves are still rough and bumpy. I find that if I wait for the inner leaves to get flat and smooth , the outer ones begin to yellow up on me..I see some on your past project photo that some outer ones are flat, yet still nice and green! Are you considering adding Mooch to this project after a while?

I will have to use Mooch for the ghost peppers. I am going to delay using it until day 38. I am afraid it may affect the pac choi flavor. I like to harvest early. Where I've pinched off the leaves there is plenty of new growth. Just don't pinch them off too low.
This morning I had a BCT Sandwich for Breakfast. Bacon, Choi & Tomato, it was better than a BLT. The problem is, I've been harvesting leaves for three days, because I've had to. They are starting to block the light from the ghost peppers. I only planted these seeds 13 days ago!

Wow! I am eager to see the result you get from the Peppers when they begin to fruit!! I never do a partial harvest on the choi plant, but take the entire thing for salads. One project gives me 2 big salads. A long time, I know, to wait for just 2 salads, but it is worth it.

I first heard of Choi from Ginger. All I get is a blank page when I visit her site. Is it still online?
