Hi everyone. I splurged and bought 2 Farm Plus models. It has been 2 weeks and so far I am happy. I was worried $1,200 was going to waste but after a bunch of AG Harvests and such I was pretty sure I wouldn't regret my decision. So far I don't. Anyhow my first grow is going.. ok. I had 9 pods not sprout. 7 lettuce and 2 tomatoes. This is unusual in my experience. It has been two weeks but I am going to leave the pods sit there for a while longer. We will see. Ive got-- 3 Golden Harvest Tom 3 Heirloom Cherry Tom 2 Chives 2 Dill 2 Basil And various lettuce. Deer Tongue, Red Sails, Marvel of the Four Seasons, Parris Island, Rouge d' Hiver and Black Seeded Simpson. I plan to keep this thread updated so I hope you will check back. 20180717_204847_HDR by OzzyCoop, on Flickr 20180728_202549_HDR by OzzyCoop, on Flickr 20180728_202615_HDR by OzzyCoop, on Flickr

Welcome ozzycoop. So far so good. How long have you been Aerogardening? Did the two farms replace other machines?

I would say 5 years Aerogardening. I originally started with 3 of the simple 3 pod ones. Little round guys. I bought them used. I then bought 3 7 Pod gardens. My first crop was jalapeno peppers. Unimpressive harvest but I stuck with it and grew some impressive mini tomatoes and basil. I then started using them to grow seedlings and then I potted them and finished them under 4 foot Jump Start T5s. I had a nice thing going.

That sounds unusual for the lettuce. I love your combo of greens, herbs and tomatoes, though. And your Farms look sharp. I love how they stack. Any action from the tomato seeds yet?

Yep. 3 of the 8 pods took an extra 6 days to sprout but they did. They are very feeble looking plants. THey don't look as hearty as the others did at this point in their growth so I am going to get rid of them and replace with habaneros. I'll admit that part of me wants this anyhow.

Day 20 update. As I said I had 5 pods not sprout and a few are doing poorly. They never got started well. Nevertheless I am pleased with the progress so far. 20180808_214614_HDR by OzzyCoop, on Flickr I got a pretty good salad for my first harvest. It was very tasty. It was just the geens and tomatoes from a neighbors garden drizzled with white balsamic. I am thinking about removing the dead pods and the chives and dill. I will replace them with arugula. Has anyone had success with AG arugula. It is either that or mint. The tomatoes I planted are doing ok. I didn't post a picture of them because they are slow growing but they are well. I had 3 not sprout so I planted habaneros instead. 20180808_220158 by OzzyCoop, on Flickr

Very nice harvest you have.
I have never grown arugula so I can't help there.

Two Farms... how NEAT!
I’ve grown arugula successfully in the past. I’m going to buy some more arugula seeds, and we can compare our progress!
That’s a shame about the lettuces. I wonder what the problem might fave been.
I was disappointed in my aero garden lettuce pods, but I’ve always done well with my own seeds. I always add six seeds per pod.
your flexibility and openness to making adjustments will serve you well as you continue to learn and grow your with your Farms,

Recommendation: I have has 100% germination with Salad Bowl (both green and red) in the AG . I grow it a lot! The variety is a loose leaf and can be found all over the internet for custom projects. I have several projects recorded on the forum. FWIW.
Just curious, OzzyCoop..have you had any problem with green algae showing in your fill corner?

Beautiful! I think you will be very pleased with the lettuce you have despite the non-germination of the other pods. And though I haven’t grown it myself, arugula should do as well as most other greens. That would be nice to add to your salads!
For the mint you’re considering, is it the AG mint pod? If so just know it does not taste anything like the mint we buy in the store because it is a different variety to allow the plant to fit in the machine once mature. It is tasty (to me) but some people have been very disappointed because they (understandably) expected traditional mint. But the plants are just two different animals entirely. Again I think the AG “mint” is tasty, one just has to adjust expectations to be satisfied.

I am having problems with green algae in the water filler corners. I just keep a playing card over them as a cover and it helps.

20180813_185400_HDR by OzzyCoop, on Flickr I'm getting a two large salads every 3 days or so. This is after a harvest. I gave up on the dill and chives because I can't keep the lettuce away from it. I was having problems with the basil burning I think. You can see some of the brown. I trimmed it off and raised my lights so I hope it doesn't affect the lettuce growth. My tomatoes and habaneros are doing there thing too. 20180813_185423_HDR by OzzyCoop, on Flickr

I am having problems with green algae in the water filler corners. I just keep a playing card over them as a cover and it helps. I have a solution for that! If you want to send me your mailing address in a direct message I'd be happy to send you some of the water port covers I've made for the Farm/Farm Plus.
