Last night I planted 4 kinds of radishes and some lettuce in an EarthBox. I’m really excited about the radishes because I’ve never grown them before, and because they’re supposed to be really fast! They'll be a nice addition to the lettuce for salads. The lettuce seed is Jericho, because it’s still quite warm here (and will be through November), and the radishes are, from left to right (for future reference in the EB): SPARKLER (Park) BEAUTY BLEND (Park) ROYALE (Johnny’s) ROVER (Johnny’s)

I grew radishes last year in the EB. I think they were Cherry Belles. I never used an EB before that so I have no clue if I did it correctly or not. I did get Radishes but not like they were supposed to. Hence the reason I do not think I did them right and I know I did not care for them like I should have. So I am following this as well!

I hope it’s not a bust, but we’ll see.

First of all you have way better luck then I do with outdoor planting... especially veggies. I think you will do well!

I have radish seedlings! No lettuce yet but I do have radishes. Hopefully they’ll grow properly.

Yay sprouts! I’m sure the lettuce will come along.

Thanks, Rialle. Once they all make their appearances, I will attempt to make proper cut-outs and tape the plastic cover back together for the weeds, dehydration, etc.

Last night I checked on my radishes and they’re doing well. I taped up the plastic cover, taking care to steer clear of the teeniest ones on the ends. No no sign from the lettuce though, so I planted more seeds. This time I sprinkled them and only lightly covered them with potting mix.

one can't but appreciate those stands for the EB! I find it fantastic for those bush beans! Your radishes are making me want to plant some. But my little furry friend would dig them up even tough they wouldn't eat them..just for the sake of digging.

I couldn’t agree more. I was at first upset about the price, but they are so, so worth it. Sturdy too. They make me never want to plant tall things, requiring the EB to be on the ground, again. For those low, back breaking (for me) boxes, I bought a little chair on wheels from Ikea for about $25. It’s a lifesaver. I’ll see if I can find it. It also has holes in the seat so if it gets hit by sprinklers, the water just drains. Though it’s not a garden chair by any means. In fact I believe it’s a child’s desk chair.😂

HOPEFULLY by Spring I should be able to do a lot more. I may look into a stand and break my EB out. I was never able to use it this year.

Me too, and it’s remarkably comfortable for my back. IKEA had an entire line of demo chairs to get on and roll around. This was the most comfortable for me. Frankly I’d love it in my office instead of the fancy expensive one they gave me. And this is only $25!!!

The nearest Ikea is far away from me. And they get so crowded.

Especially on the weekend. I once accompanied my friend to help her because she was on crutches and couldn’t manage her basket. Worst.Saturday.Ever.
