When I know that a machine will soon be ready for a new planting, I get a head start this way. 1. Select my seeds 2. Place them in pods 3. Put a rubber band around the group of pods 4. Place in a cup with an inch or so of water

Great idea!! I’ve put them in a cup before, but sans rubber band and they fell over each other like pixie stix.

Mary, when you said "pixie sticks," I visualized pick-up sticks If I remember correctly, pixie sticks were tubes of powdered candy? And now we're growing healthy produce! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

I can't believe how much junk food my parents let me eat. I also can't believe that I would put fizzie tabs directly into my mouth!

Regarding Fizzies. They are still being sold but with Vit C. I do not know if they are made the same way but you can still get them hereYes Mary, I remember those. We would walk around thinking we were so cool Then they turned into the white sticks many years later. What about Zotz? We would eat these things up.

Just a few days or so, depending on how fast they germinate.
I start out with them covered with a saucer. Then after a few days I put the uncovered cups close to another machine with lights.
