Hi, I’m new here, and I’m enjoying reading all the threads. I’m thinking of building a cart/shelving unit for my gardens and supplies. Here’s what I have:
two harvests, one sprout, two Aerovoirs with another one ordered, and a little basket of things like start-up guides, nutrients, those little plastic domes, etc.
Ideally, I’d like to have a power strip and battery backup so I won’t have to reset all the light timers if the power goes out, or if I need to unplug the cart to move it. Has anybody done something like this? What supplies do I need?
Also, I might put curtains on it.
What are some other storage and organization ideas that I should consider?
Thanks!

Because you can buy and cut the 2x4 boards to whatever length and height you want, and you can stack them. The instructions were very good and the screws that came with the brackets worked just fine instead of stripping out like ones made out of cheap metal. And it would be easy to hang curtains on them, because the shelves are deep enough to give you plenty of room for the machines with no overhang, they'd tuck away behind a curtain really well. Although with my farms the plants do hang out over the shelves, those would be easy enough to tuck back away into the confines of the machines. This is what mine looked like, from when I very first set up my Farms and hadn't planted anything yet:
I could easily have put a top shelf back over the machines - I took them off when I got the Farm XLs because they were too tall to fit underneath and I didn't feel like going to buy more boards to make them taller. I use them in my garage for extra shelving instead. This is what they looked like when I very first built them and they still had the tops:
Very nice and contained, with lots of space and easy to expand on. I can't speak to battery backup, but I hang my power strip on the front of the shelves so I can get to it easier.

A lot of people including myself use various configurations of those popular metal shelving systems. There are a variety of people who market them but their design seems to be the same.
I've had good luck with the amazon basic ones. They are pretty good quality and sturdy-ness for the price.
You can buy them in a variety of configuration, with and without wheels.
If you want the top-of-the-line. I have purchased a couple of the omega ones:
These are really heavy-duty and you can specify both their length and width and number of shelves.

I also have battery backups. Here's the ones I have chosen:
They come in a couple of sizes as well.
