Since we were chatting about AGs in the bedroom on the Christmas List thread, I figured that I'd start a new thread on the topic.
I've had other AGs in the bedroom (but not on the nightstand) for a few months now.
Since the Harvests make periodic noises (pump?), I have all of my bedroom harvests on a power strip (I got the kind that also has a circuit breaker in it for safety.) and we turn it off at bedtime. Even with the reduced hours of light, my lettuce does fine.
I don't know about LEDs damaging the eyes, but there is certainly research that they can contribute to preventing melatonin release, thereby making it harder to fall asleep. I try to wear blue-blocking reading glasses at night, anyway.
I'll have to ask AG if the new 360Harvests have an air pump (with a noise that I find annoying) or the water pump, which might click at night. In any case, I'll put them on power strips, so it will be easy to "unplug" them.
@cornne, what kind of pump does your Slim have? Does it click?
