As you know, lettuces prefer cool air. But I really don't have room for a stand-alone fan. I could have a ceiling fan installed, though. Do you think that a ceiling fan would help? (Especially considering the expense!)

Why the fan? Is your apartment/house very hot? i grew lettuce successfully all summer and my house gets to be 89 in some rooms when I am not in them running the A/C

I use a Lasko floor fan always. I angle it up a bit and pointed to circulate around the room. When the plants are present, the leaves are always jiggling a bit.

I’ve got two floor-standing, oscillating fans set up across the room from my Farms. The fans are plugged into smart outlets controlled by a Google Calendar. The calendar only has “on” entries for times when we’re not at home or sleeping. So to my family they seem like they’re always off, but they actually run for 12ish hours a day most weekdays.

You might want to try Jericho lettuce. It is a Romaine lettuce developed in Israel to withstand the heat. I've grown this on my totes during the summer twice. I had so much lettuce I couldn't give the stuff away quick enough before it went bad. This tote went for six more weeks after this photo.

I remember that project. It was massive. Jericho is good. I like the Jericho and Dragoon Mixed together.
Maybe that is why my lettuce never fully gets massive. Maybe my room needs more air . I do know when I add ice cubes to the water, they seem to love that.

I am going to pick up a few clip on fans to use.

My greens have been sensitive to heat, but I’m not sure whether it’s sensitivity to the warm water or the air.
I like the idea of the clip-on fan.

I use a fan on my tomatoes. Yeah maybe they don't need it but I feel better having some air to help keep molds and such away. 20181215_140413 by OzzyCoop, on Flickr
