Hello, I am a newby with a recently purchased Harvest Slim and the Heirloom Salad Greens which are doing wonderfully and I hope to harvest this weekend. Yippie!

I have been reading about the Grow Bowl insert for the Bounty and that you can grow strawberries in it. My question is why do you need the grow bowl for strawberry plants? Can't I grow them from seed in a regular pod or from bareroot in just use the pod basket? Can't strawberries grow in the aerogarden without the insert and additional medium?
Also, from what I can understand about the bowl is that it is similar to a semi-hydroponic environment. Is that correct?
