Hello all, I am new to the AG world and have a Harvest Slim with an Heirloom lettuce blend that is doing great and almost ready to harvest. I was feeling so good about that success I purchased the Bounty Elite on sale from Sur La Table. I will set it up soon with herbs but I am wondering about the hood height. On the Harvest Slim the hood lowered to about 3-4 inches over the deck but on this Bounty lowest hood height seems to be about 6 inches or so. This seems really high especially when the instructions say to keep the hood 1-2 inches above the plants. So is the amount of light sufficient at this distance to keep the seedlings from being spindly? I may just be over thinking this whole thing.

The Bounty has a pretty powerful 45w hood that will never give you problems there. All of the models will grow any greens and herbs. That was the same when AG was using fluorescent bulbs when I started in 2012. I grew only herbs for two years on a Classic 7 garden until I found Corinne's original forum in 2014.
I would say the only items you are restricted on are eggplants and very hot peppers. I would grow those only on a Bounty or Farm Plus.

It was a good question, and I would’ve had the same concern in the beginning. But as Mike pointed out, the lights in the Bounty are higher wattage so you won’t have a problem.
