Does anyone know anything about growing garlic scapes from seed? I think technically they are called bulbils rather than seeds, but have you ever heard of anyone successfully growing them at home? Also interested in growing my own ramps.

Hi Ruth - sorry for not chiming in earlier but I’ve been away for a bit. I myself have not personally grown either in an AeroGarden, but I have seen someone on this forum successfully grow green onions/scallions. Something I’d really like to do. They do it without a sponge, if I recall correctly. They just use the plastic basket. Does anyone else remember this?

I have been wanting to try this, but do not have any extra cages or the space at the moment. I know others have grown green onions from seed. I think in some of the garden patches...can't recall where I have seen that.

I did green onions last year, though I don't think I have any good pictures. I sprouted them in a dirt/sand mix then transferred them to Grow Grips foam plugs that fit in the AG cages. Not sure how they would do in regular sponges. I think someone else uses ones from the grocery store- just sticking the ends in the basket and letting them regrow. I tried doing garlic in the AG recently and it didn't work out. However, I think that's because I used grocery store garlic. I haven't yet tried garlic from seem or nursery sets. It should work by having the bulb sit on top of the AG cage.
