orangetabbys , All I remember is that I had apparently damaged them myself while cleaning them. Debby at AG said that we shouldn't clean the insides. So I replaced all three (and bought some spares) and have been doing fine ever since. Good luck!
I know this has been discussed before but I find it funny that depending on who you speak to you get different answers. Just like when I was told about adding peroxide to the water and then speaking to someone else who gave opposing info.
I always clean my pumps out. One time it was so bad with nute buildup it was stuck. After cleaning it it worked fine and still does after 3+ years.
Like Happy, I have spares just in case.

There is no way one an keep a machine going w/o cleaning the inside..bowl or deck.It isn;t sanitary either. I was lying in bed last night when this thread came to mind. (!) Then I remembered that AG recommends "sanitizing" by running the assembled unit with bleach or vinegar. Using vinegar sounds like a great way to dissolve mineral deposits (and maybe old roots?). But, if I remember correctly, they say to use 5 cups of vinegar in a 1 gallon bowl. That's a lot of vinegar! So I'm thinking of buying this 30% vinegar, so I can use less than 1 cup. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EXSPF4U/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza(Regular vinegar is 5%). And using it with gloves, ventilation and eye protection. What do you think?

Happy . I had purchased a different Green Gobbler product (Orange Oil) and I was totally dissatisfied with it. It smelled horrible and did not work as they stated. But again it was a different product of theirs.
If you do get this, please use with caution and test it on an area first. I would hate for it to melt, discolor or do damage (ie flaking, etc). Only because this is so strong.
I sanitize mine using a lysol cleaner. I soak it with vinegar and reclean and rinse it a million times. I have not used bleach .
When I clean it I use soap and water then the lysol as well.
PS, if you do get it I would be interested in your review of this item.

Hi! That reminds me of my college chemistry classes. We often worked with acetic acid and we all had holes in our jeans from Minor spills and spatters. Have you worked with this acetic acid? Safely? Thanks for your suggestion, treebeard.

Yes, I have. I definitely wouldn't recommend buying that though was more of a joke. It is very corrosive, and definitely shouldn't touch any part of you. You would also need eye protection and a mask. Sigma aldrich is great for high purity, but for this application it's most likely cheaper (and safer) to go with a lower concentration.

Sale over, I'm afraid. Amazon will periodically put on a 24 hour or less sale. It is shocking how low the price gets sometimes. Last year they reduced the price to half on a machine I was watching and I cried cuz I didn't have any money in the bank. Next morning I made a $40 deposit then ran home to buy it and the sale was over and it went back up to $79.95. I was sick. Keep an eye on Amazon for these fast sales.
