Can I use Dehumidifier water in place of distilled in my AGs?

Dehumidifier water is never sterilized through boiling so I do know if that would be wise to use. I have no knowledge of it otherwise. Maybe someone else will have a better answer for you.

I would use tap water. I never have a problem with it. There is no telling with dehumidification water.

We have a well with a water softener so I was just hoping for a simpler solution to lugging distilled from the store. Not lazy, just getting old!

My experience with dehumidifier water is it was loaded with contaminants. If you want to run it through a filtration system first, I'm sure that would be OK, but it would be a lot of extra work.

How about a few drops of bleach?

Sense AeroGarden says, No Well Water, I'm not even sure if filtering it would be OK as Mike suggested. Looks to me like that you're going to have to start hauling water from the store.

Bleach is not a great choice as its harmful for the plants. Hydrogen peroxide is useful in small amounts though.
If you are willing to make the investment, a countertop distiller might be a better answer.

When I said you could filter the dehumidifier water, I was saying you can probably get the plants to grow. I do not recommend it, even filtered, though. Tap water here in West Michigan (Grand Rapids area city water) is adequate for all AeroGrow gardens. I don't even like using bottled distilled water due to the loss of minerals. Reverse osmosis removes all minerals from distilled water. Most bottled spring water is OK, though.

Thanks mike, I didn't realize I could use spring water. After posting this question I dumped the dehumidifier for the first time this year and realized that water is not anything I would use.
