Hi all. 👋 Apologies for going dark for so long. It was not my intent, but we’re in a busy phase right now. I just returned today from an 8-day trip to Chicago. I came in to water my plants and found aphids all over the mini-jalapeño I’ve been growing. After examining a few other plants I discovered two more had been colonized. So, down came my active gardens. I killed every indoor plant and went into full scrub-down mode. This is obviously exactly what I had hoped to be doing upon arriving home. 🙄 I strongly believe the aphids entered the picture as I was moving my outdoor peppers in and out during the hardening cycle. Those plants don’t seem to have aphids, but that’s the only thing that makes sense to me My current plan is to finish this sanitization cycle and leave the gardens dormant for a month. Most solutions for aphids seem defensive and I can’t deal with that. I need them completely gone. So, for now I’m an outdoor gardener. 😕

I am so sorry you came home to this. But the good news is that in a month you will start anew.
One reason I do not like dirt or plants brought into my house is because of the bugs.

Wow. How awful! I had to deal with knats that I think was caused by my dabble with strawberries. I shudder at the thought of aphids.
I was worried about the plants in and out preparing them for real life, but it seems to have gone well for me. Stupid luck most likely.
Have you seen Safer? Maybe pick up a bottle to head a few off at the pass if your amazing cleaning doesn't rid them.

I feel your pain as I had aphids the first time I grew kale. Not fun at all. I don’t garden outdoors so I had no clue how they got inside.
May your future gardens be a success!
