Okay.. real newbie question here, but i have always wondered.. if a seed package say: 40 days to harvest... does it means 40 days from the day you plant the seed? Or must we start counting day when the seedling emerge from the soil, when it have germinated... because some seeds takes 14 days to germinate.. so it can impact on when we can harvest it ... thanks for your help! *^_^*

I would say from day of planting. But lights in the different machines vary. A dimmer light than the powerful Bounty will take longer, no doubt. so....play it both by sight and by ear.(I think that is just an approximate window for harvest)

What is the standard for that type of plant? I think that plants started indoors its days after germination and those sown directly in the garden are from when you plant it. In a transitional garden, it makes it consistently when you plant it outside, but it is a bit confusing for us indoor gardners.
To make it harder, being in hydroponics messes with that timeline- usually it makes plants grow faster. The packet will give you an idea, but not a hard number.
Personally, I usually give by how a plant looks and don't worry too much about what it says on the packet.
