I planted three seeds per pod for each Botanical Interest and Burpee Cilantro. FOr now they are in an Ultra. Once they get going I might move them to a Harvest. This is still Undecided.
I did not place them in paper towels first. I am just giving them a go in Park Seed sponges. I may still try to start some in paper towels but I will decide that in a few days.

I do not like the taste of CIlantro, but many do and I find that they say it is so hard to grow in the machines. Do you find that, Shawn?

For the past two years I never had a problem growing it. This year was more challenging. I was able to get some to grow and it was growing so nice until the reaper was here. So I am hoping that this time will be easy. Also So far I do not have issues with getting the Burpee to grow. Other vendors are harder.

To experiment, I have three snack size baggies with seeds in paper towels. One is regular water and seeds, the other two are burpee and botanical interests with some water and nutes mixed in to wet the paper towels. Lets see which if any germinate first.

Nothing to report on the ones in the Ultra ... yet.
The ones in the bags, one has opening seeds while the other the seeds has softened,

Grrrr, green algae and mold on all. My fault... Started over with new seeds. Raised the hood a little.

Yuk on the algae. And you KNOW Cilantro takes forever!
What dishes do you use for Cilantro, Shawn? On an older forum a gal was a fan of Culantro, a Caribbean Cilantro that has a stronger flavor. Have you ever tried that? I am not a fan of the taste of Cilantro, but I thought I would mention it FWIW

@cornne , I heard of Culantro on the old forum and forgot about it until you mentioned it. I may give it a try and if it grows and we like it great, if not no harm done. I use Cilantro for many things. I use it for Salsa, I make Cilantro Potatoes, Cilantro Butter, in chili, and even in chicken salad. Any dish that is Mexican or southwest I will add it to or any dish I want to turn into those dishes.

A third pod emerged. YAY. If the 4th one does not no problem. These will give me a lot of Cilantro to use fresh and freeze.

Does it grow in plenty like Basil? Yes, this is a picture from a few years back. The left is Cilantro (3 pods in a Harvest). This was as it started. I had Cilantro (and Oregano) for a while.

My Cilantro died The water in the Ultra got tooo hot. So I replanted the one that is half dead and two more pods in my Harvest. That is where I usually plant them anyway. I also moved an Oregano in there as well as my second Napoletano Basil.
I will be updating the subject to reflect this.

I would but the only problem is I hate bugs and with soil or potting mix (I have the mix) I am afraid that the bugs will come in. But maybe when the weather cools I can try. Less bugs outside flying around.
I have not had soil/mix inside my house for 30 years. The last time was in my last home and we were infested that I threw everything out. We were given plants for housewarming gifts. Gross, Yuck, Now I am itching LOL
