New aeroGarden (aG)... got a Bounty model a little over a month ago, and WAS very impressed with it...
I was 37 days into growing Herb kit that came with it (sadly 1 pod did not sprout - no biggy) when the screen went blank/white
This happened once before, a few days prior, and at that time I simply unplugged the unit and re-plugged it in, and was pleasantly surprised that 1) the screen display returned, 2) it detected a power interruption, and 3) it saved the grow data - so just reset time and back to "normal"
This time the screen did not return to normal after re-plugging in... stayed "blank" for over a day... although it seems more a display problem as touching the screen produced beeps (I assumed the on-screen "buttons" still worked - I just had no idea what those buttons were)
And so, here is my ask to the group:
1. Has this happened to others? Is there a fix/work-around/replacement?
2. Failing that, has someone here mapped out flowchart/algorithm of these models so that one can replicate the process manually? For example, I can use an outlet control device (like D-Link or Meross) to have the unit turn on/off at set times to mimic the light cycle. What might be harder to do (but not impossible) is to control the pump. And so to that end, I would need to know what are the on/off patterns of the lights & pump, as well as the nutrient top-up interval. And are they the same, regardless of what plants one grows? I not above MacGuyvering this thing if need be, as I am quite taken by the aeroponic concept - the results so far are quote good - in fact, I am in the process of converting a rain barrel into an aerogarden seedling repository, of sorts, so I can use the aG predominantly as a seed starter, and then migrate the mature plant to a more long term setting to keep it going, making room in the aG for more seeds
3. Would the Bounty WiFi model alleviate the above screen issue? Is the a (phone?) app that duplicates what you can do at the screen? If so, that might be a viable work-around...
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks...
