I am a Aerogarden newby... I have read the instructions that came with my Heirloom Cherry tomato seed pods, and lots of stuff on google. My plants are on day 27. I am so confused on how to prune them. It states above the 5th branch, but mine are huge for 27 days. They are about 4 inches tall, and have the starts of blooms all in the top of them. Can someone please give me some advice on how to prune them? Attachment Deleted |

Hello and welcome! I am just growing the Heirloom Cherry as well. First time growing tomatoes. I asked the same question. If you read my thread here, toward the bottom of page two, I have pictures. Please read all before cutting as it was my first time.
Also you can wait for someone more experienced to chime in. BTW, I think I was a few days she of 27 days.
What machine are you growing in?

Thanks for the reply! Your examples was really helpful on the way they should be pruned.
I noticed someone said they should be pruned before they flower? Mine is getting ready to is it to late to prune them? I will attach a pic.
Also, I seen where you added 'Nutes". Can you please tell me what that is, and what it is for?
I am growing in the Bounty Elite.

Nutes is shorted for Nutrients. The AG Nutrients you add every two weeks.
As for the flowering, I can not help there as this was the first time I have grown tomatoes.

You did wait too long but don't fret, the plant will grow taller then normal is all. You can still prune the plant with no ill effects although, you will lose those flowers and the toms that it would produce there. There is nothing wrong with doing it. The choice is yours. Personally, I would still prune it to keep the height down.
Nutes are slang for nutrients or plant food.  |
