Brazenness has little cost once the seeds are bought. The words 'Chocolate' and 'Cherry' -- in combination, no less -- caught me, and I bought pole tomato seeds. (I was probably hungry, thinking chocolate-coated cherries!) Anyway, while this is still a live project, here's an update: -planted Mar. 28th -used Botanical Interests organic Chocolate Cherry Tomato - Pole Cherry -germinated well (4 stalks, hmm, in one pod! but seemingly all originating from same point in pod?) -if this continues, I'm imagining a trellis winding out my windows and onto the building's 17th floor roof, baffling all the neighbors -- as the seed pack promised "prolific vines, endless trusses", dear lord! I notice that the Heirloom toms Shawn shared with me also have four stems seemingly from the same part of pod. (It's been two years since I gardened.) And the pole toms are currently about twice as big as the AG heirlooms. Do I clip out all but one stem for AG heirlooms and pole toms? Or, is this how they grow? I cannot remember. Thanks! If you planted 4 seeds you will get 4 plants if they all germinated.(if that is what happened) Tomatoes only need 1 plant per pod and that means the other 3 need to be clipped so the healthiest plant can grow.
