The cuke looked so juicy, makes me want to grow another Jade project! and the sandwich looked delicious!

I just cut off these 2 baby (and struggling) cukes (notice the fading and yellowing blossom ends. I’ve seen this before - they won’t make it)... in order to allow the plant to devote all its energy to this healthy adolescent, which seemed to come from nowhere!

Last cuke and roasted red pepper sandwiches from that last cuke (last of my roasted peppers, too). Soon the adolescent cuke above will be ready to make more sandwiches. I’m finding that I really like cukes in my sandwiches in place of lettuce for that cool, crunchy element. It’s so much easier than cleaning and fiddling with lettuce. And allows for a tidier piling of ingredients in the ‘wich, if that makes sense.

Time to bake more potato bread today. I only have 1 slice left, and it’s an end slice.

Envious of the harvests. If I recall correctly, the jades are appropriately named.

The MaryL household is really eating well these days! WONDERFUL! And my bank account is suddenly, unintentionally healthier too. I have far too great a tendency to order out.

Suddenly, seemingly overnight, this guy turned yellow. I clipped it and put it in the fridge. There are some babies on the plant though. I’ll have to decide when I return from this weekend whether I should sacrifice one or two in the interest of one of them.

I have some viable teeny cukes! But I think I should remove the paler one. It doesn’t look good, and I think it’ll just suck energy out of the better one.

Goodness! Look at all these roots that grew into the deck!!! I had noticed when I lifted the deck that there were roots making their way into it, so I decided to take the deck apart while carefully leaving the plant in it. I’m sure glad I did.

Cuke plants can be downright scary the way they invade... everything.

That is a lot of roots. I am glad you checked it. I make it a point to weekly look into the bowls at the roots.
