Maybe the vendor. I always get mine from Park Seed or I have them from Burpee as well. I know I did a side by side grow of two different vendors to test.

That's good to know. Whether it was the seeds or stress, I will start being pickier about where I get my seeds.

It is crazy how each vendor has a slightly different variety of vegetable, with the same name. I guess that is what makes this so fun, or frustrating!

I`m trying to analyze what caused my pepper failure.
After I decided to terminate the project, I just ignored it for a while, only adding water as needed. All the leaves were crisped on the tips.
After a few days, I tasted a pepper, and the heat was dissipating and the pepper tasted sweeter. However, the roots looked very unhealthy.
So I picked all the friut, changed the water to beginner nutes, and added peroxide to help revive the dying roots.
Then I did a Khang Starr "remove most leaves, trim branches back severely" and expected it to eventually rebound like Starr's peppers do.
But I must have damaged the plants too severely because the remaining leaves are still crisping and dying.
In any case, I think my nute experiments did thie plants in, and I really doubt that it was the vendor's seeds.

I wonder. What vendor did you use again?
I never had any problems with any of my Sweet Heat peppers.

It was not the seeds that were the problem.
I had been pushing the nutrient strength to try to match the recommened ppm charts.
After I posted that I was going to terminate the peppers, I dumped the water and just added 11 ml of AG nutrients and 5 ml calmag twice, and the peppers ended up tasting like Sweet Heats.
So I was the culprit!

I am glad that you were able to work the problem out Sher. After I saw a heads-up from mike a while back, one about staying under AG’s recommended dosage of AG nutes, and another about magnesium deficiency starting around week 6, I kept my AG nutrient and CaliMagic doses both in the 4ml per week range in a Bounty with one sweet pepper plant after doing a Drain&Refill dose of 6ml CaliMagic and 12ml of AG nutes a month ago. The TDS has been holding in the 700-900 range and the plant seems happy and fruitful, although I don’t know what the peppers taste like yet. Thanks Mike!
