I've so far grown two varieties of cuke plants in an Aerogarden Bounty. One, I probably won't delete because it required you to gather pixie dust from a male blossom and paint it on a female blossom, and that seemed like a bit of trouble. I've also tried the highly recommended Jades, which were much easier. I just got seeds for Little Leaf cukes from Reimer. 57 days. Cucumis sativus. Open Pollinated. Compact plant produces high yields of 3 to 5" long emerald green color cucumbers. It may be the highest yielding pickling cucumber on the market today, producing 25 to 30 cucumbers per plant! An excellent cucumber for salads and pickling. Parthenocarpic variety and no male pollen is needed, so even if bees are scarce you'll still get a bumper crop. Perfect for container gardening. Does well under stress and adverse weather conditions. Tolerates heat, drought and cool temperatures. One of the most disease resistant cucumber on the market. Excellent choice for home gardens, hydroponics, greenhouses, market growers, and open field production. Developed in 1991 by the University of Arkansas, USA. Disease Resistant: A, ALS, BW, Ccu, CMV, DM, PM. LOT NO: CU1002-01 GERMINATION: 85% TEST DATE: 09/17 Seeds Per Pound: 16,000 Plant Height: Vine Type Plant Planting Season: Spring/Late Summer Sunlight Requirement: Full Sun/Partial Shade Planting Method: Indoor Sow/Direct Sow

Do you set up a trellis for them to climb on?

I'm pretty sure I was looking at those, but I had my burpee seeds on hand so I wanted to try those first. I'm looking forward to seeing how these do.

It definitely looks like I'm going to have to put up a trellis of some sort. Although it's only a couple weeks old, the cuke plant is already shooting out tendrils to grab onto things.
I remember when I was growing jades, it went and latched onto just about anything it could reach in the Bounty, including the trellis ring, the light hood, the rod supporting the light hood, neighboring plants... downright frightening how these things hang onto everything.

A Parks Tip on Cucumbers!
For pickling, harvest your cucumbers when they're 2-4 inches in length. For eating right away (if you can't wait like us!) harvest when they're 5-6 inches. Always remember to remove over-riped cukes to encourage more growth!
