Note: This is not a tutorial or guide - try this at your own risk. Most of the extra additions are expected to be detrimental to a plant's growth, so I would not recommend adding them to any Kratky or other hydroponic setup of your own. This thread is (hopefully) going to be very amusing, and while I'll be compiling the results into videos, this thread will serve to give a sneak peek (with pictures!) into the results. The theme of this thread is that I will start two lettuce Kratky setups - each in a one gallon jug and with the same amount of nutrients. Then, I'll add something to the second jug and compare how it affects the plant over time. (it's not very scientific, since I would need a larger sample size, but it should be interesting) For the experiment #1, here are the contents: Jug 1 (Control): - One gallon of RO water
- 1ml of General Hydroponics CALiMAGic
- 1tsp of General Hydroponics MaxiGro
- One Buttercrunch Lettuce seedling, started in air conditioner weatherseal and placed in an AeroGarden pod
Jug 2 (Experiment): - One gallon of RO water
- 1ml of General Hydroponics CALiMAGic
- 1tsp of General Hydroponics MaxiGro
- One Buttercrunch Lettuce seedling, started in air conditioner weatherseal and placed in an AeroGarden pod
- Four Fresh Mint Tic Tacs

And of course, here's the starting pictures:

As it turns out, the light I have in this tent (Hidden Harvest) is not as strong as I thought it was. I moved the plants to the middle, directly below the light, and might raise them up as well.

I have read that sugar or molasses sometimes boosts hydroponic growth.
This will be fun to watch!

Not sure how I missed this when you first posted it. But I am super ready for this brand of entertainment.

Just ordered a new light to replace the one in this tent, because it clearly isn't strong enough. I'll have to restart this experiment once it arrives, since the lettuce is too leggy.

So far, the Tic Tac looks better than the control.

I'm still waiting on the new light, but these are definitely leggy.
