9 Lettuce Pods: Black Seeded Simpson (2), Deer Tongue, Parris Island, Red Sail, Marvel of 4 Seasons (2), & Rouge D'Hiver (2) 3 Herb Pods: Chives, Dill, & Genovese Basil I thinned one of the Marvel of 4 seasons pods a little aggressively (I accidentally pulled all the seedlings), so that was replaced with a Thyme pod I got with my Bounty.

The post-feeding explosion seems to have occurred. I'm pretty sure they weren't this big when I left for work. When the other farms come in (boo snow in Atlanta screwing everything up) I might split these up a bit- 6 plants per bowl max. I think they are still young enough I can if I am vewy, vewy careful.

Explosion is right! Looking good. I don’t think you’ll have any problem with moving them. The lettuce roots don’t get very entangled. And even if they do, just gently give them a tug to pull them apart.

Definitely more engaging than watching paint dry!
Speaking from unfortunate experience, a plant can suffer a LOT of root damage before it actually dies. It might set it back a couple days, but one thing I've learned from aerogardens is that plants REALLY want to grow.

Lettuce has more space now and I moved out the herbs- they'll go into the sprouts I have coming soon. I put down 4 more pods to fill out the Farm. Nothing special, just more of the same Aerogarden varieties. I'm out of covers at the moment, but I have some on the way that should arrive soon enough.

I REALLY need to have a salad for lunch tomorrow. From now on the left will get Flora series nutes in a 3-2-1 ratio and the right will continue on AG nutrients. Since they are the same varieties of lettuce, any flavor differences should come from the nutrient mix.

I simply can’t do bitter lettuce and if your experiment works I’d give it a go if mine come out bitter!

They definitely taste different. I think the AG nutes might have more bitterness to them, but the variation between varieties of lettuce and the age of the leaves was far greater than the difference in the nutrient mix. So far, I think it's better to find sweeter varieties and harvest the leaves while they are still young is more important than the nutrient mix. The Flora nutes in the 3-2-1 mix might keep the leaves tasting sweeter a bit longer, but old leaves are just going to be bitter no matter what you do. I have found my salads so far to be very mild bordering on sweet (for loose-leaf lettuce). The occasional potent bite hasn't bothered me that much. The Burpee Bibb I grew before was probably on par with the green leaf you get at the store. Some of these AG lettuces are stronger than that, but I still think they are milder than, say, a store bought Spring Mix. I might grab some next time I'm in the store to confirm that. For reference, spring mix is probably the most potent store-bought lettuce I can really stand. I usually stick with romaine.

I have had many different lettuces and I only really like Romaine. It is not bitter as far as I find it. I have not had bibb yet. I do not like bitter, Mark does however.
I am waiting for my Romaine Dragoon Seeds to plant for some fresh greens.
