I have accumulated quite a few boxes of seeds, some nearing the expiry date. Is it ok to put them in the fridge or how do you store them?

I make up my own pods, and keep the seed packets in the fridge. Previously I stored them in a cookie tin, grouped in ziploc bags with the air pressed out, and some desiccant packs for good measure. Now I have them in the fridge in a gasketed plastic ammo box, with a single larger desiccant pack. My seeds remain viable for a few years at least with this approach.
The goal of these setups is to protect the seeds from light, heat, and moisture. Keeping things dry also prevents condensation when the box is removed from the fridge. You don't need to get that fancy, and I'm not sure how well the plugs would do in the fridge, but keeping the pods dark, cool, and dry are the way to go.

I keep all seeds in a box. All sponges fit in a box as well and on my feet are also box and all these boxes are in my buffet and they stay perfectly fine. No need to refrigerated anything in my opinion.
One of my seed boxes are here
