Getting up there.. Need the ladder to pick some of the tomatoes .. The hydroponic plan there next to the ladder is doing better than the in soil with fruit size at the top of the plant. There is something to be said for constant food and water.  |

The baby bells are coming fast, eating them sliced cold as sticks and cooked with onions.. The Tangerine Dream are also finishing up as they seem to be a determined small plant.. Photo is a bit washed out the bells are very orange.   |

Anyone know what causes these dents that do not ripen on the baby bells.. the ones like this don't taste right and I just toss them..  |

Sorry about the photo sizes.. I did reduce them a good bit.. but maybe my internet connections is slow as well.. they are local to my house but upload is 100MBs.

I did reduce them a good bit.. but maybe my internet connections is slow as well.. they are local to my house but upload is 100MBs. It's not your fault we have a horrible connection. It's a leftover from when we traveled a lot and used only cell phones. I just put up with the slow connection rather than change everything around. Because any time I get a chance go on a trip, I'm going to need that cell data I'm paying for. |

Anyone know what causes these dents that do not ripen on the baby bells.. the ones like this don't taste right and I just toss them.. My best guess would be that it is insect damage. Thrips, maybe? A long time ago, I was growing something that had defects like that, and a local nursery expert told me that it was caused by thrips that were stinging the plant. Another thought is that your plants may have picked up a systemic virus. My privet hedge, for example, has many mottled leaves that are the result of a virus. |

I have a virus on the leaves of my eggplant, but thankfully it is not affecting the appearance of the fruit.
I looked it up and found that all it will do is reduce the harvest. Since it has plenty of nicely growing little eggplants, I don't mind.
Sorry your problem is affecting the fruit.

Since it has plenty of nicely growing little eggplants, I don't mind. Sorry your problem is affecting the fruit. airscapes, here is a picture of the worst of the leaves. It doesn't show well in the picture, but some of the leaves are kind of a bronze color. It is probably caused by the bug that left the holes in the leaf above.
They are not flea beetles because flea beetles leave perfectly round holes.
Oddly enough, it is not affecting any of my other plants, and the plant is continuing to put on baby eggplants, as sickly as it looks. It still has plenty of healthy leaves so far, too.

Hornworms destroyed my outdoor tomato bush. I salvaged all the solid green tomatoes without holes and set them on my kitchen counter.
They ripened beautifully and tasted great!

Thanks for the knowledge. Glad they got ripe! Hate the worms.. I think the cat bird has been keep my worm populations down.. only had a few with holes and never find the worm.. so must have been eaten.. |

Chlorosis? The holes are surely some kind of insect damage. I get holes in the leaves of my outdoor plants from caterpillars mostly.

The yellowing of the front and discoloration of the back is what it killing the plant.. this particular leaf had holes as well.. This yellowing of the leave between the veins started at the bottom older leaves and worked up. I thought it was lack of magnesium to start and upped the Mag but it looks more like fungus or other disease since all of them have it, not just the hydroponic plant. This is a yearly occurrence and does not effect the yield but would like to put an accurate name to it. This is the top of the canopy .. after more googles.. it must be mag deficiency.. but not sure why it continues when I doubled the amount the hydroponic plant should be getting.. oh well season is over link |
