This morning's email from AG told of a new item to grow microgreens in the AG Harvest model. They have a kit and then seed packets and mats, etc. Interesting, even though I don't have a Harvest and Mikey's interest in growing microgreens has waned, I'll keep this in mind for the future anyway! I may enjoy growing them as salad or sandwich add-ins!

P.S. May be time to add a new section to the AGA Discussions area?

You know, I may have to make a "Greens" Board and then keep all others in the Veggie and Fruit section

Very cool!! I really liked growing micro greens but it was messy and attracted fungus gnats because of the soil. I might buy this when things have calmed down a little in my life, thanks for sharing!

I have never had microgreens and have no clue on taste or texture or what to even use them for. For me I am a pass on this one. I have lived this long without LOL....
HOWEVER, I think it is a great kit for anyone who does grow them.

If you ever check prices at the grocery store, sprouts and microgreens can be pricey! And, in my experience, one needs to use them in a timely manner or you're just wasting your money. I think I've mentioned before...the "baked cheese sandwich" from the Good Earth Restaurant....yummy! Topped with sprouts after baking....

Are these just a one and done harvest? Or does it continue to product after harvesting?

Are these just a one and done harvest? Or does it continue to product after harvesting? That's a good question. Maybe the video on the link above will explain more. I didn't watch it. I'll try to do so later. When hubby was growing them, I think he tried the harvest & let them re-grown thing. Maybe someone with microgreens experience can help??

It's one and done because you harvest stems and leaves.

Thanks for the info. The video didn't explain much but it looks like full maturity in 14 days.
Edit: Well a quick google search says many can have multiple havests.

It may be possible. All the videos I watched said just one harvest because when you cut the stem at the base, there are no nodes to regenerate leaves.
Maybe they harvest them differently.

Maybe they harvest them differently. I went ahead and ordered the kit and all the micro greens since my wife loves them. So I guess I'll find out. Thanks everyone for the help!

Well, Mikey was growing wheatgrass...so I'm thinking it is similar to lawn grass? Mikey is out mowing the lawn now, coincidentally...LOL. I think he enjoys that more than growing the microgreens. Of course, he has a riding mower and a good headset to listen to radio, etc.

Has anyone here ordered that Microgreen kit from AG? Just curious.

I had decided to order the kit today but they're out of stock... and then I clicked on it on the store to read a little bit about what's included in the kit to see if I could make my own version to play with but it goes to a page not found :( Maybe someday!

Maybe because they are sold out? If you want I can reach out to my contact.

Although I don't have the AG microgreens kit, I have (and have resumed) trying to grow microgreens. I'm finding it much, much harder to grow microgreens than to grow greens in my AGs.

maskedsonnet, I think that I read that the kit includes - 2 containers
- a fabric-like medium in which the seeds can sprout
- maybe 1 or 2 other things
These are things that you can find elsewhere (e.g. the containers can be substituted with frozen-food trays). YouTube has zillions of microgreen videos. And I still fail to be successful.

Thanks! I've got a really good method for growing microgreens in soil but I've had such issues with bugs that I thought it'd be cool to try in an AG. Maybe I'll look at other hydroponic methods when I get time for a more involved project
